Good Ext Hard Drive needed

Caddies are faster as it's straight into the port, rather through USB. You don't need power adaptor or USB cable either.

eh? Those caddies don't come with a hard drive, they're usually used for servers hot swop. But they're great for data backup. You don't have to rely on USB.

Then you can fit whatever drive you like. In this can you don't want to use a Maxtor.

If it's not too much data have you thought about burning onto DVD+R? If it's family photos give a copy to a few relatives, worse case scenario you lose everything ie due to a house fire a relative should still have them.
