Yes but that would be an 8 year yes 8 year example.

The saving vs sitting in a nice new car is totally not worth it.

Not to mention the engine is a lot more powerful in the 245, looks like 45BHP and over 30% extra torkz compared to the best Mk2 vRS so not really a fair comparison unless I've missed something?

Anyone know the typical excess mileage payments on these deals? They're awfully tempting but I would be looking at more like 20,000 miles per year, so I'd be expecting a big hit at the end...
Depends on the manufacturer and car. MB are usually around 6ppm, VW 4ppm. High mileage is normally a killer on lease deals, as the leasing company want to make their money selling the car on when you hand it back, so the less miles it has the better for them.

Was referring in particular to the vRS deals being discussed

Also bear in mind the favourable agreements VWFS seem to offer when changing your mileage midway through the term now seem to have ended.

It is high but then its a 3 year contract and the annual mileage is 15k. Probably has a big effect on the car's value at the end if the mileage is going to be 45k+.

Even then its only about £150 excess mileage cost for every 1k miles you go over. Doesn't seem that terrible?

Obviously 5-6p would be better...

I don't understand why people opt for 3 year agreements, one of the things I like about leases is a new car every 2 years.

Generally when I see quotes over 3 years it seems the cost per year is quite similar across 2 years and 3 years as well.

Don't forget to factor in additional servicing costs for 3yr lease vs 2yr.
My gti on a 2 year/10k pa will only need one service during the lease
A 3 year lease would need 2 services and an MOT, possibly set of tyres too.

Why would it need 2 services? Servicing isn't annual.

Generally 3 year leases offer better value for money. At the very least the initial payment covers an extra year use.
I personally have not found that. Annualised costs typically have been the same or very close to the same when I have looked.

Most are now variable and with VAG you can specify fixed or variable with the selling dealer.

That's why he said annualised costs :)

For some reason all the bargain lease deals seem to be on 24 month deals, maybe because that's the sweetspot for discount vs depreciation
