Good sci-fi series?

Babylon 5 was brilliant up to the last series where they lost direction but it carried the say theme enterprise used in their forth series with one story line running throughout the series.

or there's the Robocop prime directives mini series, not great but it does extend on the movies a little

Despite what a lot of people would have you believe the second half of the 5th season of B5 is actually pretty good. Sleeping in Light is probably one of the most touching pieces of TV I have ever seen. It was filmed during the 4th season of B5 when they thought it was going to be axed :( It has all the high production values of season 4 :)

You can't say you're a sci-fi fan without watching at least some Star Trek :D The Next Generation is the best series, but Voyager and Deep Space 9 are good too. However they don't have story arcs apart from occasional 2/3 part episodes so the episodic style may get on your nerves. Oh yeah and

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

As i posted in the other thread :)

Watch Babylon 5 :)

I personally think its the best Sci-Fi series ever made :D
I agree.

You need to watch it from the start though, you can't miss out an episode as there is so much going on and plotlines being introduced sometimes a series in advance.

Battlestar Galactica

Truth, he speaks it. (I've only got the first two series on DVD and I'm going to wait (lack of funds) for a while to buy the remaining DVD's)

Star Trek is always a good watch.
Firefly/Serenity (short but very good)
I quite enjoyed Farscape although I only saw a couple of seasons.

Lexx. rather odd & "different" to most sci-fi shows, worth it if you've got an open mind & a sense of humour.

Those who haven't watched Babylon 5 will constantly recommend Battlestar Galactica, those who know will always herald B5 as some of the greatest sci-fi of all time. I'm a massive BSG fan as well, but just doesn't have the same heart, impact and epicness of B5 i'm afraid.

Shame on you Tefal for not searching the 50 threads that already list the greatest shows to watch. :p

Apples and oranges, you really can't compare them directly. I have watched B5, loved it, and will still hgihly recommend BSG. BSG is more concentrated, more focussed, and the acting is of a much higher standard throughout.

True to an extent, but they're both amazing sci-fi so it's easy to compare in the same way that you'd compare two great rock songs, two great comedy shows...that's my meaning.

Agreed again, to an extent. The performances by Peter Jurasik (Londo) and Andreas Katsulas (G'Kar) have sent chills down my spine, not once in BSG did I get that.

I did however get chills in BSG with regards to battles, set pieces and so on.

Agree 100%, but the rest of the cast are in general mind-bogglingly appalling until you get "used" to it and then start to focus on the story instead.

Hmm I dunno there was some great acting mixed in with the epic scenes...

All a matter of opinion though, both are awesome shows. :)

Just finished Space: A&B actually and it wsn't too bad... some episodes were a bit poor but with a bigger budget and more belief in the franchise they could have really made it something epic, as it was a very "realistic" scenario in the way it portrayed the ongoing war. Bloody awful intro sequence though, whoever designed that should have been shot.

S:A&B...that takes me back, I was expecting an awesome second series after "that" final episode, but nothing *cries*

Also loved that episode where their commander is grounded, but goes out to fight the red devil/baron?
