Good time to Upgrade / Replace?

I know there is never a good time to upgrade / replace your system, however there seems quite a bit on the horizon for the comming year.

My current system is in my sig, and I'm wondering if I can tweak it to last me a while longer, or should I just take the plunge and get myself a new top end system. (thinking of spending silly money

).

Primarily my system is used for games.

You could upgrade the graphics card to something like an X1950pro PCI-E for a nice boost which will cost about £130ish but if you want to upgrade the whole shebang then post a budget and I'm sure someone can come up with a suitable system.

no real limit on budget tbh (although cost/power ratio might get the better of me as its hard to justify getting top spec), just trying to decide on whether its worth replacing now, or perform a smallish upgrade now, and wait a few months.

With a dell 2407 (since I'm on a 17" atm).

Although I'd imagine I could slim that down a lot and still have comparible performance.

Yeh i would keep your AMD 3700 and get a nice 1950 pro, will see you through a few months.

By that time Intel will have had there c2d price cut and released there .20 versions of the cpu's! Also DX10 cards will be more readily available!!

I've got basically the same spec as you and it will do for a while yet! Then i will do a big one come march or something!

My current card is AGP, although my mobo will support a PCI-E also.

Would PCI-E give me any better peformance, since I could get either AGP/PCI-E cards (512MB) for about £150.
