With winter looming ever closer, this is something i want to look at and bulk buy early.

Last winter a BIG problem was the screen wash all freezing up. And with all the slush and grit and muck on the roads that gets thrown up into your screen, the wipers dont do a very good job of clearing it away without the help of screen wash. Even using undiluted screen wash, it always froze. All the screen wash i can find in shops are only good down to -5 at the most.

Does anybody know if there are any other screen washes or have any tips that will stop the screen wash from freezing this winter?

I have used Autoglym screen wash for a few years now. You can buy it in 5l bottles which makes 50l of screen wash for about £23 delivered. Not only does it clear the screen well it doesn't smear after wards and the wipers don't need replacing as often. Its never frozen on me but I do up the dosage when its cold as the instructions state. You can always buy a 500ml bottle to try it first.

Halfords advanced is pretty good.

This, i used this neat last year, and never had any problems with it freezing, however it does become expensive, so probably going to look at alternatives.
Just check priced and its now £4.49 a litre

I used to use the halford ready made stuff but found that it left a smear on the screen for quite a while afterwards unless the wipers were new.

I just bought two and a half litres of Asda own brand stuff. It's designed for diltution, but I just bunged it in neat given that it was less than 2 quid for the bottle.

I was using RainX for a while, but whilst good it's very expensive.

Screen wash freezing? Heated washer jets.

I find Halfrauds smears badly, always use Autoglym Apple

heated washer jets don't stop it freezing on the screen though do they
no point being able to get it on the screen if it freezes once there, which it did to me last year till i went to the halfords stuff
i got the halfords undiluted screen wash at £4.99 for 5lts
worked great

It hit -15 out on the moors earlier this year and everything but the Halfords Advanced froze on me. With a trade card it is about £3.50 a litre.

You can't be trying very hard, there are plenty of brands out there which go well below -10.

I will be trying the Normfest Frostex stuff from Eurocarparts, used neat it's capable of -70°, at which point I don't think I will be getting out of bed, let alone driving the car.

Anyone else find it really irritating reading Halfrauds? I understand what you're suggesting but still, it's in the same league as the **** who spell Microsoft as Micro$oft. Annoying!

Is this the Halford's stuff that's green in colour and smells like slightly off rum? Looks a bit funny when it's soaked into the remaining ice and snow on the car.

I use stuff from the VW garage. About £3 for 1L and is good for -70°C undiluted.

I found the Halfords advanced froze last year whilst driving at -10 near honiton. Started off fine at home with -7 but froze on the move in the bottle/pipes.
