Good Zoos

Me and the Girlfriend are thinking about going to a zoo tomorrow (she says she's never been to a zoo before :eek:

). I haven't been to one in years, the only two I know the names of are London Zoo and Marwell Zoo but I've got no idea if they're any good though.

Any suggestions on good zoos? Don't mind travelling too much (Live in SW London) but preferably not as far away as Scotland etc! It will be an all day thing so a big zoo is preferable!

London zoo. £15.50 entry, but you can get 2 for 1...hang on, let me find it...http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/Attractions.aspx?AttractionID=4466

When I last went 2 months ago, it was really hot and the animals didn't do much but it should be better now.

Might take 3 or 4 hours max but you could combine that with a walk in the park afterwards.

Colchester zoo, you can get the train to colchester from liverpool street, takes about an hour I think and then a bus to the zoo.

Colchester Zoo is good, plenty big enough for a day trip, and a little bit closer to you than Chester.

Chester Zoo seems to be highly recommended on here though!
