Goodbye Crysis.

Any game like BF2 is going to have bugs and balence issues that can only be solved through extensive play testing on a global scale IMO. EA have regularly been trying to fix these issues and have even added a new level (with another one coming), how many developers do this? not many.

It seems cool to hate EA along with Microsoft and McDonalds.

EDIT: I'm hungry now :(

I don't hate McDonalds. The people who eat there every day are the ones who I laugh at. I don't hate Microsoft either; I respect Gates and appreciate that it is impossible to eliminate all bugs in software.

I hate McDonald's, EA too, but I honestly don't hate Microsoft. :D

Maybe I should stop playing Devil's advocate. :p

I think the last good game i got that had any thing to do with EA was Jungle strike on the mega drive :(

I think Kreee will have covered all my prob with C&C (or he will do ;) )

As for BF2 EA/Dice (same thing now as EA own them) have had over a year to fix the problems with BF2 and have been unable to do so, But they have been able to release 1 addon and 2 boster packs for it, as well as make most of battlefield 2142 AND start work on BF bad compay, I mean COME ON it clear they are not giving an resourses to try and fix the game !!!!!!

EA trying to take over Crytek can only mean bad things !!

Battlefield 2 was meant to be HUGE and amazing. EA rushed it out which means even today its still bug ridden and "not finished"

Dont talk rubbish, EA only up-date that game because people never stop moaning at little things like bunny hopping and so on. Yes it had a few bugs, but no where near as bad as some make them out to be. Now we have a game that is slower because of the people moaning at the little things.

Alright guys for those of you who dont quite get why a lot of us view EA as an evil monopolisation of epic proportions lets take a look at some of the evidence.

The FIFA series. ANYBODY who knows anything about football knows that the ONLY worthwhile football game is pro evo. It just beats fifa hands down in terms of style and playability. And yet pro evo only has a handful of real teams in it because guess what, EA bought up all the licenses. EA stifle better games with their resources.

Battlefield 2. A game of fantastic potential which was so marred by bugs upon release that it was practically unplayable. Even to this day, despite the fact there has been an expansion and the next game in the series is already in beta there are STILL critical bugs that haven’t yet been fixed. In my view, you fix your god damn game before you even think about releasing more content. By rushing out BF2142 it also means they have basically killed BF2.

The SIMS. No other game screams ‘Cash In!!!!’ quite so much as the sims. Numerous expansions which are still being churned out and tons of small kids lapping it up.

C&C series. Enough said.

So there are a couple of titles and the problems associated with the, but lets take a look at some of their other issues:

Much like blizzard, I have found that any developer with an EA tag on it simply cannot design menus. Its like they went to school, thought about it, put together something that worked, and then thought ‘You know what, this is too easy! Lets slow it down, make it clunky, tabs are like so 20th century, give no graphics options other than ‘high’ and ‘low’, lock down those resolutions to the standard old ones, because we decide what people use not the user’

There are many more things than i have listed here but last i thought i should mention the most infuriating issue of them all, the god damn unskipable EA intro movie.

You Forgot EA Licencing cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini and The other ones for years on end and if someone wanted to used them then they had to pay out loads of money.(The reason we dont see them in Gran Turismo)

I'd rather have a game that's gradually becoming slower and more tactical than a frigging adrenaline junkie dolphin flopping game that it was before. If I wanted that crap I would play Unreal Tournament.

Battlefield 2 is suiting my needs at the moment, especially with the Point Of Existence mod, but I will definitely look into Brothers In Arms if it's the way you say it is. That sounds ace.

You get pinned down and have to find other ways around or ways to hold people back.
Its the type of game that can scare the crap out of you when going around the corner aswell :p
The graphics arnt the best but i only have a geforce 5500 so it doesnt bother me too much :)

To the EA bashers who claim everyone hates them; I'm sure that is the message they get when they cash in the billions of $'s in sales every year.

I still don't see why some people don't see the flaws. Whether it's just that they've never played an RTS competitively or they just like to argue I'll never know :)

Just speaking from personal experience (but I would say it applies to a resonable percentage of gamers) I really don’t care if a game is balanced for hardcore competitive gaming. I’m there to have some fun, play through the single player, have the odd LAN/online match then move on to the next game, so slight imbalances don’t really change that.

On EA being evil, I do agree with the general consensus that they tend to carter to a mainstream audience, which makes sense as they want to make as much money as possible. Those talking about BF2 specifically have valid points of the buggyness but EA is far from the only company to release a game with major flaws. A few other big name examples are hour plus long waits just to join a server in WOW, the stupid save system in Dead Rising, people being unable to even install Half Life 2 due to servers crashing when it was first released, the starforce copy protection on a number of games breaking peoples systems.

One of BF2 bugs that is a total joke is the servers crashing all the time.
5 times in 1.5 hours last night is not funny.

Intelligent people hate them, it's the mindless masses of casual gamers brainwashed by graphics and brand names that buy them.
