Chicago (IL) - A report published in a German newspaper today suggests that Electronic Arts (EA) could snuggle up with Crytek closer and beyond the distribution deal for the upcoming Crysis first-person-shooter. The developer of FarCry would be the second German game developer EA would be acquiring within a short period of time.

I hate EA with a passion and this is terrible news.

If this happens, another incredible games studio will be ruined and turned into mass-produced rubbish.

Goodbye proper computer games, looks like the games industry really is turning in to the movie industry with lots of mass marketed rubbish. :(

Agreed, don't the companies realise that a lot of people hate or at least dislike EA, you would think they would realise that it would be a bad move in the long run doing something like this.

Some people would look once and see "EA" and think, "no thanks"

Then why not stop buying games published by EA?

The only way to stop them is to tell developers that gamers don't want anything to do with EA and they're franchises so that these developers don't sell-out for EA cash.

I don't think EA are as bad as everyone says. At least theres always going to be support, EA won't go bust. Also EA will more than likely push for expansion packs which can only be a good thing. EA arn;t daft they know how big a title this is going to be and won't rush it to the finish line before its ready. They will also beable to give it the advertising campaign the game needs.

Go for it I say!

Battlefield 2 was meant to be HUGE and amazing. EA rushed it out which means even today its still bug ridden and "not finished"

Any game like BF2 is going to have bugs and balence issues that can only be solved through extensive play testing on a global scale IMO. EA have regularly been trying to fix these issues and have even added a new level (with another one coming), how many developers do this? not many.

It seems cool to hate EA along with Microsoft and McDonalds.

EDIT: I'm hungry now :(

Look what Ea did to burnout, excellent game that totally changed with each new one, since EA started publishing its the same game every time.

Which shouldnt be and wouldnt be there had they taken the time to finish it properly before they released it.

Fair enough I don't know the specifics about the issues I just though they were general game balancing ones.

I still don't think Dice are blameless. At the end of the day BF and Crysis are stong games who can if they choose to stand up to EA.

EA didnt rush out BF2 the gamers constantly asking where it is and when its gunna be out did .

if you dont like EA dont buy the games they publish

I agree, EA are an excellent production company to work for.

EA are however a financially sound company, i could list a bunch of awesome game producers who have gone bust because they werent good at business. Yes EA have produced a fair whack of crappy games, but they have the financial backing to create a strong future for gaming. Even if it takes them a while to produce the great games that people want.
