Goodbye Firefox!

Ahhh Pre-1.0 Firefox, those were the days :D

Then somewhere between 1.0 and 1.0.7(?) it seemed to just go horribly bloated. When you stop and consider how basic a browser it is on its own without extensions it's just plain shocking the resource usage.

Opera on the otherhand does way more than Firefox by default, yet manages to hide the features you don't want (eg. Widgets/mouse gestures/) very well, as it's incredibly fast system-wise :) Saying that though the current support for it on "the web" is horrible which puts me off using it.

IE7 does all the basics and does it in a sleek, nice resource using package; which is why i'll continue to use it :)

I normally skip between FF and Opera, not used IE for years, unless I have to.

But I prefer visual tabs like these in FF ;) (That are there all the time, not this tile (aka IE) or hover over rubbish (aka Opera))

Jesus, there are SO MANY useful extensions for Firefox, I really can't see any other browser at the moment that is close.
I'm using version 1.5.0.6, and it's solid as a rock, and fast.

You'd think IE would be the king, coming from a company the size of Microsoft, but it just isn't.

Funny, all the "bugs" you lot have with Firefox don't exist for me?

I always run the latest version, and just pull a copy of my profile over, to instantly reistate all my bookmarks, extensions (30 at last count), saved passwords etc etc. No crashing, memory hogging, copy/paste issues, etc etc?

It will be a cold day in hell before I ever go back to Internet Explorer.

I think Firefox is great, I've never had any issues with it. I'd probably switch to IE7 if I could move the address bar above the tabs like it is in Firefox but there doesn't seem to be a way. It annoys me :(

I.E 7 is just a rip-off of Firefox's features even down to the search bar/tabs etc. Hopefully I.E 7 will adhear to web standards that make web pages in Firefox look bad because they've been coded for the quirkyness of I.E..
If we're talking about ripping off features, Opera and Maxthon had stuff like Tabs and Extensions long before FF :D

Firefox works for me.

I have tried IE 7 and went back to Firefox because it has nice & simple interface but thats just me.

Until IE7 allows users to customise the browser the way they want, via extensions or plugins then I'll be sticking to FF.

Why? Because I control the browser and not the other way around. I've been using since day one without a single problem at all. IE7 may look all that, but give it a good 8 months of use and watch your bugs flood in.

Q.F.T., I used Firefox for a LONG time, but since using IE7 B2 (then B3 and RC1) I havn't gone back, it's just better :)

For you guys having problems and even you not having problems I would have a go using Firefox 2 Beta 2, Been using it for 2 weeks now and it's not crashed once, you also get some decent new features that at the moment you have to use an extension for, including a auto spell checker.

Give Beta 2 a try !!! but do a fresh install and a new profile

Even BT's own web browser (very good by the way) had tabbing as far back as 2002. Its pretty much a standard feature in browsers. ;)

adblock plus, filterset g and customizegoogle make firefox better than anything!

NO ads at all, gets rid of crappy googleads too

Absolutely, Opera is by far the best browser. I have used it for years although I do dabble with each Firefox release. Firstly, Opera is just way faster, if you do not notice the difference between Opera and any other browser, get your eyes tested. Next, security, nothing out there at the moment can bork your set up through Opera, with just a few clicks you can set it up to filter cookies, ads and scripts without the need for an extension.

Memories are made of this, except where Opera is concerned, the most Opera ever works at is about 30mbs, even with about 20 tabs open, Firefox is double that with just a few and whilst we are on the subject of memory, you can keep all your bloated plug ins, they aren't that useful anyway, Opera has all that actually need out of the download.

Now that I have kissed Opera butt enough, don't get me wrong Firefox rocks big time and I will always install it for no other reason than to support it. As for IE7, I am laughing so much I think I just peed a little! :D
