Goodbye Tractor - hello Replacement!

But i know people who would perceive the change in value as the change of monthly payment and the associated liabilities (tyres pads bulbs labour)

Not really when the cost for

2 new tyres
4 pads
2 discs
2 bulbs
labour

Was over £1700 before I did a deal when going for the swap - everything on the C will be cheaper :)

Tax, fuel, tyres, brakes etc :)

That's merc main dealers for you, take that to an indi and there is no way 2 tyres and the brakes would be more than half that. Merc dealers are ludicrous, hence my mercs never going to them, you never make the money back keeping the FMBSH as its just so inflated.

so the dealer gave you the mother of all invoices for your ML, and then gave you a get out of jail card with a nice and cheap part ex LOL.

We had an ML.
It was costing more and more in maintenance, tax and insurance.
Due to a new baby on the way and moving houses we needed 2 cars.
I would never take a £20k+ Merc to an Indy - yes I'm a snob. Merc do look after customers that look after their cars with them direct.
I don't care about depreciation - is it going to be worth a few grand more than the balloon at the end? Yes? I'm covered.
The Bill for the Merc was £1770 - once I gawped at that and before any deal they dropped it to £1400. The Mrs then came home in the C class which I wanted.

They gave well over the odds for the ML - several thousand over the guides and more than 2k off any other garage I had it valued at. They dropped the price of the C nicely. The rate is average but acceptable. I topped up the deposit and have my nice nearly new car for a shade over £100/month for 3 years :)
And the Mrs will have a new Ford Kuga for 3 years - both cars will cost less in finance payments than the ML. And thats not considering all the other savings! Granted I had to use cash to get to this point in deposits but I'm happy and comfortable with it :)

That is how and why - not that it matters to the anti finance brigade here :D

Got the car on saturday - love it so much - the drive and ride are sublime :)

Audio 20 + Becker sat nav option is very nice and works well - just updating the becker now with updated maps, POI's and speed cameras :)

Averaging around 35MPG round town and 55-62 on a run so very happy :) Will still do 50+ when sat on the motorway at over 80.

More in depth thoughts and pictures soon :)
