Google Android Event - 29th October

Plus it would be most unlikely for Samsung to use a tegra 3, I call BS.

Why would it? They've used TI chips in devices before. Everyone knows that Android tablets can't get any traction unless they compete on price and the Tegra3 SoC is cheap which allows them to hit certain retail price points.

I'm seriously considering going back to Apple, the Android tablet apps are a joke versus my house mate's iPad apps, the iPad has much better resolution and a chip that's more than capable of running games at that resolution. Add to that, the LG Nexus 4 is going to have unforgivable 8Gb storage at launch...

Quad version of the Exynos 5250?

would make sense as it can....
be able to simultaneously display WQXGA-resolution (2560x1600) on a mobile display as well as 1080p over HDMI.

With the Nexus 10 supposedly sporting that micro HDMI port.

Regardless of what ends up providing the power in the Nexus 10, it's got to be something special to drive that resolution fluidly.

As I've said there's nothing to say there won't a 16GB Nexus 4 at launch, just everyone getting their knickers in a twist because the 8GB is the only one that has shown itself so far.

Using a tegra3 in a tablet at 2560x1600 resolution simply would not work very well, the numbers just don't add up. While Samsung have used the tegra2 before they haven't yet used the tegra3. Either the resolution is a lie or the tegra 3 is a lie. If given the chance I would have all my monies on the tegra3 being a lie.

I have no doubt that a 16Gb Nexus 4 may exist but CPW will have had all details on the launch device months ago from either LG (if they supply directly) or the party who distribute the handset, simply because CPW would have to add it to their systems and receive assets to print in store POS/leaflets. The fact CPW states 8Gb makes me believe that it will be 8Gb on launch and the 16Gb will be a refresh/launched later.

Well it wouldn't surprise me for an Android tablet to be released when the manufacturer knows it is sub par performance wise. Heck, Asus released the TF201 with poor Wifi performance due to the fact they used a full metal case with no plastic window.

Perhaps the 16GB model is only available via the Google play store for now?

Google would not allow a laggy unusable device to release under the Nexus name. Google would have had this device for a long time now developing the latest version of Android for use on it.

looks a bit dodgy...:D

One day, in the not too distant future, I hope to see an android present these. How cool would that be? Cooler than seeing a Granny Smith present for another company.

Tegra3 would seriously struggle to render that resolution at all, the only option that potentially supports that would be the MIPI DSI (conventional LCD interface maxes at 2048x1536, everything else at 1080p), add in the single channel memory and just no :p So either res or SoC is wrong, I'd say SoC...

As for the iPad, the GPU isn't "more than capable of running games at that resolution." btw, hence why the vast majority of games are running at the much lower iPad/iPad2 res and upscaled, the iPad 4 could well fix that though...

The trouble with Android is that you get very few flagship models.

I would love to see a real killer on Android, the GS3 is the closest we have seen and a great job it has done. Would love to see more really powerful phones/tablets.

Huh? Android has more flagship phone releases then any other mobile platform...

Maybe my wording wasnt quite right, I mean pure Android. I would love to see Google really go for it with some fantastic tech with bog standard Android. Like the nexus 7 :)

How long between the announcement will it be until they're for sale?

With the Nexus 7 it was a couple of weeks. It all depends really on how far along their distribution process already is, for the Nexus 4 for instance it appears they are already very far along so I predict we will start to see units ship or on sale in stores within days of the conference.

With the Nexus 10 I am less convinced and we will probably see it start shipping a few weeks after the event.
