Google Android Event - 29th October

May also explain why Apple upgraded the iPad early. Exynos 5250 would make this the best spec'd tablet in the market.

That's great news if true!

However, I bet it stills feel like a cheap plastic kids toy, as per every recent Samsung device released.

It doesn't have to be metal, even the Nexus 7 feels well built due to the texturised back cover.

Remember Google has a large amount of input on the external design of Nexus branded products, so it may well surprise you yet. :)

Also it was obvious it was never going to be the tegra 3.

This is going to be an epic upgrade from my TF101 :D

I'd imagine it's going to be £399 for the base spec?

I'd guess that's the price it'll be at, but I can't realistically see any reason why they couldn't hit the £299 mark with it and really do some damage to Apple's dominance; the internals are pretty much the same as is in the new Chromebook, and that goes for $249.

Then again there are the differences in screen quality, cameras etc and cramming it all into the smaller frame.

Even £349 would be nice.

Is Exynos more powerful than Tegra3?

Yeah, even the 4412 is more powerful. Tegra3 is absolute crud, think of it as the AMD of the mobile world.

I'm talking from experience with my TF201, which has major performance issues which I solely put down to the Tegra3 POS that's inside.

Nexus 7 proves Tegra3 is a capable SoC, just not as good as others. It's definitely not rubbish, its a solid budget chip.

It's rubbish, proof is in the pudding. It lacks horsepower and it shows on majority of games not designed for Tegra, hence why Gameloft disables visual effects in their games when run on Tegra3 devices.

It also causes fragmentation in several ways, with games coming out specifically for it and in some instances, THD games being left behind when their standard counterparts get updated. Fruit Ninja is a perfect example, the standard version is more up to date than the THD one...

A chip designed for gaming by a company who's primary business is GPUs... I expected more. I know it's a cheap SoC but it found its way into premium products such as the HTC One X and Asus Transformer range

Strange, because my Nexus 7 runs absolutely great. 4.1.2, no slow downs, stutters, lags... very nice.

Tegra 2 has problems with frame rate when the desktop is rotated 90 degrees to the left or right. Really stupid bug that shouldn't be present.

It isn't that bad tbh as said above the nexus 7 runs super smooth and fast and supposedly the X with JB is much faster and smoother now.

From what I have read it just seems like it is very hard to work with compared to snapdragon chipsets.

It is damn power hungry and runs hot though!

But indeed, it is a joke the way it is used in products, which are suppose to be premium flagship devices i.e. one X. Purely used for marketing, no other reason "quad core, therefore must be better".

Why are they wasting screen real-estate by having the battery and time at the top and the soft buttons at the bottom? Put them on the same line!
