maybe they'll go the thin client route, a minimal linux environment with networking then everything else running on their own servers with graphical redirection to the users machine.
I don't understand why Googles OS would offer something better than using a current version of Linux. People have had the option of buying netbooks with Linux installed since the netbook was created but most people stick with windows due to the wider levels of compatability it offers for hardware and software.
