Google Chrome

I don't think I could use this day-to-day. It is too unprofessional. "Aw, Snap!" comes up when I simulate a tab crashing by terminating the process...

Is Google run by kids?
Microsoft isn't immune either. I saved this embarassment from MSDN a while ago :D

Between that and the newer Webkit builds being faster (a lot in some cases), you have to wonder what the hell Google were thinking

surely this is something they will rectify.

just downloaded it and it seems very fast, few odd things about it mind. the bookmarks are in a daft place and there seems to be no drop down site list.

insanely fast though.

but i dont feel that confident using it after reading this thread.

Could just be that they weren't expecting many people to be using it during it's Open Beta stages and that an old build of Webkit would be okay. You'd like to think they had been working on an up version though.

Just spotted this from the link that msm722 posted
"Some of the services are supported by advertising revenue and may display advertisements and promotions. These advertisements may be targeted to the content of information stored on the services, queries made through the services or other information.

The manner, mode and extent of advertising by Google on the services are subject to change without specific notice to you."

My gut reaction was quite bad, but this is a generic thing Google use on nearly all of their services these days. Google Maps for example, the T&C's on that say that they can put adverts into any Maps developers create or use without notice.

The security issue aside releasing with an older version, than Safari of all things, that's slower seems dumb - unless they're going to take the newer WebKit and everyone'll say they've made great gains in performance.

Whoever thought that a new browser from Google wouldn't get many users should be taken away to a padded cell already :p

Another thing I've noticed - sometimes there is lots of HDD activity when Chrome is open? I close it and the activity stops. Most odd. It isn't Windows swapping RAM because there is plenty free.

I've been noticing this all day today, it does settle down after a while though, but then when I start a new session after a short while the HDD goes on a mission again, very strange.

TBH, I quite like it when a software developer injects a bit of humour into their products. Life's too short to take things too seriously.

Sure - I thought the sad tab and "aww, snap" things were cute. But that down-with-the-kids graphic is embarrassing!

Anyone else think it looks and feels very Linux/KDE-ish?

Really need the ability to change the colour of the title bar though, bright blue just doesn't match my black and orange theme..

Noticed this adds GoogleUpdate.exe to task manager upon installing and it doesn't seem to be doing anything? :3

I quite like it, minimal and looks nice, however it is not enough to swing me from IE7. It's very fast on machine, but then again given the specs so is every browser.

Am I just being blind, but where are my favorites in chrome?? Everything impiorted from firefox, it knows my passwords etc, but I cant find a favorites menu

So once you've navigated away from the default homepage, or use a different homepage you cant get at them without opening a new tab, that seems a little poorly planned
