Google Drive - Why can you still not password protect folders/documents?

They support it but it's a feature of workspace accounts (ie. business). You can set this up as an individual if you're happy with the annual cost.

Google Docs Encrypted Files

OneDrive gives you an encrypted folder for free, but really the problem of securely storing passwords is a long solved problem and you should use the right tool for the job and not a plain document stored in the cloud.

You're basically saying you do unsafe things and want Google to try and cover for you?
No, it's me saying I'm at a life/risk balance that I'm basically happy with, but if there was an easy way to improve it (ie: password protect a google folder) that would be nice. :)

Everything we do is a life/risk balance. ie: Your car fob is not secure, but do you employ a steering lock on your drive? Do you take a wheel off your car overnight? No? Even when those would help with "unsafe things" that obviously reduce the risk of your car being stolen? Because you've quite rightly assessed your life risk balance and come to your happy level - You lock your car, and put your keys in a locked house.

But joking aside, I'll look at 3rd party password apps, but from the couple I've seen they don't seem as friendly/versatile as simply my folder structure on Google Drive. I'll keep looking ;)

Yes, and I feel like you've decided what to use for this purpose, then moan they haven't added other features for your use case... which isn't the use case it was intended for.

"I can't believe my car will sink if I try and drive to France?! Why haven't BMW addressed this still!?"

I think you want a whine rather than just a conversation?

You still use bitwarden as the client to connect to vaultwarden.
Sorry should have said.

Vaultwarden is the open source version of bitwarden and if you self host it all features are pro and free.
Where as BitWarden is hosted in the cloud and features pro are paid per year. .

Erm... okay...?

I'm just stating my view on your position. You're using something for a different case than it's intended and whining they aren't accommodating your use case.

But sure, I'm whining about it. (Tbf, no, I'm not looking for a conversation)
