Google Glass update thread.

It's a start i guess but id like to know when they plan to do proper augmented reality where info and virtual objects can appear over the real world, when we can play games and talk to people as if they're right next to us etc, when we get that it will be the next big thing, until then this is more like a tiny mobile display and webcam headset, it has a lot of potential but should have happened years ago, we've had the basic tech for ages now.

Im hoping they intergrate it with their Ingress app at the moment.

Would work really well being able to see where the portals are instead of on their phone.

I got laser eye surgery so I wouldn't have to wear glasses - I'm not interested in paying a large sum to start wearing them again :p

It's a cool concept, but not one I think I'll be interested in.

Why are people like i dont want to wear glasses?
You aint google glass has no lens over the front? so its nothing like glasses besides the hang on your nose and ears

I believe that for those that do wear glasses you can a prescription pair?

Everyone's bloody wearing them on youtube channels, they looks stupid. Nice idea and will be the future, still needs a bit of miniaturisation and more uses.

I agree this is a first version, that paves the way, but ATM solely geeky use or youtube/conference video use.

Would much rather them in contact lens form, although where would the camera be. Although I suppose when contacts are ready high qaulity cameras will be cheap and tiny so could be placed on clothing or anything else

In response to the google police review, So basically someone needs to make a copy of these, or hack these and add support for wifi to smartphone for computing and communication between the two and allow the smartphone to do all the computer processing stuff. So battery lasts longer and gives far more flexibility.

Also agree on the balance, why put everything on one side, why not split it up, or add extra battery's on the other side. So it's equally weighted.

It's odd there's no HUD for photographs, I assume its not powerful enough? But even showing a frame outline, would allow you better picture taking.

Half of these reviews are of an unfinished product anyway, each update is bringing more and more features. People should hold off for reviews of the public release versions imo.

Personally I like the idea, while I wouldn't have a big use for something like this myself at least at this time the concept is fantastic and I can see real world uses for this kind of product. If the price point is reasonable for the public available version it will be a winner once people full understand it.

These idiots claiming "I'll punch anybody I see wearing these" are usually stupid and uninformed bang wagon jumpers.

It would be excellent if you could run ES File Explorer and play media from your server/rig/android on what seems to appear as a huge 60" floating display. I wonder how decent the video quality appears when it's so close to the eye and there aren't so many pixels available.
