Google Music

Also being able to search or browse for any artist or song, listen to it and instantly start an endless radio station from it is awesome. Again that's any song you've uploaded or don't own.

If you find a song you like enough on the radio, you can just add it to your library, indistinguishable from any of your own uploaded music.

Yeh the Radio feature is fantastic, been playing about with it.

Just signed up. Started a radio station from one of my fave songs on my phone. It hasn't let me down yet. It's as if Google know me!*

Unfortunately, no full support for Sonos, so I'll be staying with Spotify for the time being. With Google Music you have to download to a PC, then sync to your android device before being able to play over Sonos.

Poor Google...

What? Can't you just open Sonos on your phone and stream from the Google Music app?
edit: not sure how Sonos works

Can you store songs to external SD?

if you are rooted you can.

The files are stored in /Data/Data/com.google.android.music/Files/

if you are rooted, just symlink it. Foldermount[Root] will do this.

edit: oh foldermount wont because it needs to source folder to be on the internal SD card. Something else that can create symlinks should though. *goes off to play*

Yep, rom Toolbox does it:cool:

* freeze the google play music app
* clear the app's cache
* create a folder on the sdcard called files (case sensitive!) eg /google play/files/ using rom TB's root browser
* long press on the filesfolder after you've created it and choose create shortcut
* navigate to /Data/Data/com.google.android.music/ and press create
* unfreeze app and start downloading

Will this move the cache for non downloaded songs as well? or is that in a different folder.

edit: nevermind had a look and answered my own question :)

Have jumped on this for the free trial. Haven't used spotify since it went premium so I can't really compare.

While the UI is great, and I love that you can reach it anywhere you can log in with your google account, the library still seems a bit messy. For example, search Red Hot Chili Peppers and it returns 41 albums, many of which are duplicates. Track names are often inconsistent e.g. some tracks in an album have a number before them like '03' and some in the same album don't. And some album artwork is very low res.

So more development needed on the library, but I'm remaining optimistic.

love that app, it does so much!

what is it even worth doing all that for....

all 6 six steps? i guess if you have problems counting to 6......;)

Noo I'm just kidding. It takes seconds to do though. being serious now, tom_e is right. the files are 8-11mb on average. 100-200mb an album-ish - 5 albums and you've already used a gb of your internal space. and those of us blessed with on 9gb free (<3 my gs4 :p) need all the internal space we can get.

....And why not? when i have a 64gb sd card in there?
