Google just announced the Pixel 6a, and it'll be available in the UK.

It uses the same Tensor chip and comes with 5 years of security updates.

Tech specs are:
6.1 60Hz 1080 x 2400 OLED
152.2 height x 71.8 width x 8.9 depth (mm)
4410 mAh battery
6GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 storage
12MP main and 12MP ultrawide, 8MP front
Under display fingerprint sensor
USB 3.1 type-C
WiFi 6E support, 5G support

UK price is £399 which makes it a very good deal considering the specs.

A small phone!

I had to wait ages for a reasonably priced small handset to be available. Managed to snag a s21 on a bit of a bargain in the end, a couple of months ago, but it was a frustrating time hunting.

It’s a weird one with the camera from as far back as the Pixel 3.

I like the size. I hope they go with a different finger print scanner under the screen. The 6/6 pro perform poorly in that area.

A pristine like new Pixel 5 may be a better buy. 90hz screen, same camera, nice small form factor, fast and reliable finger print scanner. Cheaper.

Perfect for me. I moved to an iPhone 12 Mini as I wanted a compact phone, and can't stand the thing. Buggy, unintuitive, bleurgh. Will be buying.

I hope they sorted the fundamental fingerprint sensor and reception issues.

They need to be rock solid going forward.

Bring back basic Face unlock FFS.

If the 6a is anything like the 6/6 pro, you’re in for a big fest.

My 12/13 mini has been flawless.

Looks like a good upgrade for my wife's 4a, given the trade in value with Google is £170 (as quoted on their website). Makes the upgrade just cost £230.

Really? I can't stand it. Apps force closing, when I tap the volume up or down it jumps to 100% or 0%, awful battery life even without 5g turned on, freezing, the lot. I moved to the iPhone partly for the size and partly to see whether it resolved my issues with Android, and am so unimpressed. I'll wait for the 6a reviews, and will either go for that or a refurbed s21.

And my Pixel 6 has been flawless... I guess YMMV rings true when it comes to any mass produced item.

True but I've never read as many reports/first hand experiences on this forum around specific bugs than I have with the 6/6 pro.

It should have better image processing but the camera hardware is the same so I wouldn’t expect a huge difference.

The ultrawide has a newer sensor. And the capture speeds should be much improved given the weak and lack of pixel visual core on the 5.

Like this, but still super happy with my 5, which has the previous version of android on it, and a rear finger print reader.

Unlikely to upgrade to this 6a, but it's reassuring to see the a series being closer to my needs than the flagship pixel mobiles
