Google Pixel 6a

The Pixel 6a is being returned. Really frustrating because it’s a excellent phone in many ways let down by some fundamentals.

This leaves me with no viable Pixel phone, as I’m doubtful the 7 will be any different. I’m also only interested in stock android and a good camera so that doesn’t leave me any other Android phones.

My current options are basically go for an iPhone 14 Pro and run Google apps or hope that Google doesn't half arse the Pixel 7.

FWIW, here are the things that I didn’t like about the 6a:

  • On cellular data and browsing the web the phone got very warm.
  • The adaptive brightness is too slow. If I take my phone from my pocket and it’s bright out, I can’t see the screen for what feels like an age while the brightness adjusts to a level where I can see the screen.
  • The edges of the plastic back aren’t flush with the side of the phone in several places meaning it’s quite sharp when holding the phone.
  • The gap between the bezel and the frame is bigger than normal so it collects a lot of dust.
  • The grill for the ear piece is huge and collects a lot of dust.
  • The screen doesn’t feel as responsive I’m used to.
  • There are tons of random micro shutters and lags in various places. Some of the animations are junk.
So 6a is boxed up ready to return and I’m on my backup iPhone 6s which has a 3 hour battery
Not having a good run of it are you?

I'd say go with the 14 Pro tbh.

Any recommendations on a screen protector? Mixed reviews on most on the rain forest. Thanks
I'm struggling to pin one down as most reviews state that the finger print reader no longer works etc. Has anyone installed one which they are happy with, and that doesn't affect the reader? Could do with ordering ASAP as this is for my daughters birthday

I just got one a couple of days ago, my pixel 2 was 5 years old and battery was not lasting long enough

Got it for £399 from Jlew as 2 year warranty
Pixel 6 is reduced to £474 (direct from g but offer runs out in a few days) which was tempting but didnt fancy the extra £££ for just wireless charging and a better camera

6a seems nice so far, screen is good and nice and snappy to use still got half battery after using it all day

Bought my partner this for Christmas but she's not happy with it. The signal strength is very poor compared to her previous phone and when she is able to make a call the audio quality is very poor. Returning it tomorrow.
