Google's upcoming flagships, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, will allegedly support USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode. It allows the phones to output video to a screen over a USB-C to HDMI/DP port, potentially opening up possibilities for a dedicated desktop mode.

Finally they're coming back down towards sensible screen sizes. The regular 8 might be a nice upgrade on my 6a.

I would really love for a pixel watch to be as good as my garmin but can't see it happening soon without having to compromise too much

Now that the Pro will have a flat screen, same for me. I've been on a Pixel 7 (as not a fan of curved displays so avoided the 7 Pro), but will be upgraing to the 8 Pro on day one. I've really missed having the telephoto - hope they can bulk down the weight a little too.

Agree, the one on my Pixel 4a was faultless. Upgraded to a Pixel 7 which is a great phone but I sold it within months as the fingerprint sensor was so frustrating. Using a Motorola Edge now and that works every time.
How Google could not fix it after all the complaints with the Pixel 6 line is beyond me and I don't hold out much hope for the Pixel 8.

8 Pro will have an ultrasounic sensor.

I have the 6 Pro and whilst not great, it's far from a deal breaker.

7 and 8 have face unlock as well.

6 series has a gabage modem and signal. And below average battery life.

With you there. My Oneplus 8T is getting a bit long in the tooth and I'd like a new phone. The timing of the 8 Pro is just right for me. I'm interested in a smart watch as I haven't worn one since my Fitbit Blaze strap broke during lockdown and then I haven't really bothered with watches since then. I wear a basic Skagen watch when I go to work so I'm not using my phone and get mugged. I'd be interested in an updated Pixel Watch if the price was right and I didn't need to charge it every day. Somehow I doubt the battery life will last more than about 24 hours though.
