So it uses completely different camera sensors than the normal Pixels. Still, Google's post processing usually does the heavy work so should still be very good.
While the battery is large I'm still a little worried about how long it will last when using the inside screen (due to the G2) but it should be fine overall if you mix of both cover and inside screens.
But yikes at the price... Especially with Samsung's Fold 5 coming soon, I think it's priced too high.

Expensive but then so is the Samsung Fold; i expect give it a few months and price will come down like the Fold too. All competition is good though...
I know the G2 uses the Samsung, aka Exynos 5G (S5300), modem but is the rest of the G2 architecture based on Exynos?
The entire chip is Exynos based, just like the first Tensor chip. Only custom part Google added/changed is the image processing block, NPU and AV1 decoding. Everything else is designed by Samsung.

I know everyone likes to throw shade on Google products, and to be fair, some criticism is valid, but I think people need to take a look at the whole picture on assess the product as a whole.
Form factor is so important on foldables and as a Fold 2 user, the tall and narrow form factor of the Galaxy Foldables really is a negative experience when using device in 'phone' configuration. My error rate when typing is very high, and I find I get pain/cramps in my thumbs because of confined narrow space they have to operate in. This is despite having the phone since 2020!
Sure the Tensor G2 chip is not up there with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but I doubt Google get as sharp pricing on their SoC supply due to much lower volumes which is why this isn't reflected in price. I think Google are trying to differentiate the Pixel line with AI which is what Tensor is really designed to do. I'm sure Tensor performance is good enough to power the day to days running on the Pixel Fold.

It's not performance I'm worried about, more about the efficiency. They lag behind a fair bit and use more power than the SD competitors. I'm pointing this more towards Samsung's foundry though, as the SD 8 Gen 1 had the same issue but the 1+ being on TSMC made it more efficient even with the higher clocks. Samsung's latest 4nm apparently is very close to TSMC's 4nm now though, according to recent rumours, so G3 shouldn't have this problem.
But yes agree with the form factor, the cover screen being a better ratio alone is a huge plus. Software is also looking good, I like the little dock you can summon which looks handy for split screening apps. And as MrMobile showed off on his hands on, apps can't force a certain orientation so you're free to use any app however you want.

Even shorter than I expected. I did a swift u-turn on the order after I saw some hands on reviews. Did not like the way the inner bezels were not flush with the screen so your fingers would always feel them. Plus my other reservation on the G2 SoC and cameras.
I just wanted to have a hands on but I don't even want to anymore.
Looking forward to the 8 Pro though with the new G3 and cams.

Whilst the SOC is fine on phones, this was my main reason for buying the samsung tab s8+ over the upcoming pixel tablet. Imho it's nothing more than a 2yr old snapdragon with a few special additions. Like you, not something I'd want if I was spending that sort of money.
Anyway, just wait a month, you know the price will come down

I'd sell the watch too, getting tempted for this

Less my iPhone which they've clearly well overvalued, probably won't happen as likely an error, but say it does get £630, brings it down to £944.10
1% cash back from Chase gives another £15.74
Sell watch for £140 as above, final price of £788, add back what my iPhone is actually valued at in the real world (eBay suggesting £400 post fees), so a true final cost of £1,188

My guess is it will depreciate like a lead balloon.
I have no interest in a folding phone, using my Pixel 5 still while I watch for the Pixel 8 that is hopefully smaller than the 7 and fixed the weird scrolling issue.

And I'm tired of the hot running Tensor G1 mad G2 chips. I really do hope the G3 is good. 3nm here's hoping.

They should have just stuck with snapdragons
New rumours pointing towards Samsung 4nm, but a better revision which is closer to TSMC's 4nm. Was hoping 3nm as well since it moves to GAA transistors but would make sense for Google to go for the cheaper process.
