When are they releasing just the front panel as a phone? :)

Still well within the "look at me cool toy bracket."
A downgrade in everyway over a pixel pro 7 other than screen size and cool.
The only people I know with foldable phones are all the woman at work that want a smaller phone for their pockets.
There must have been a Samsung sale on in Sweden... :P

You mean flippable?

They're expensive because there's multiple components versus non-foldables. You have two batteries, two screens, additional camera sensor on the inside and I imagine large foldable screens aren't cheap.

The crease is there due to implications on the design used. Tear drop hinges produce the smallest crease, but at the cost of thickness. The Pixel Fold is a half way house between tear drop and Samsung, which is probably why those who have had hands-on with it at the launch event state the crease is better than Samsung but not as good as the Oppo Find N2 Fold.

The Oppo Find N2 is a good 20% thicker when folded through.

Just to point out that many phones have 2 batteries, ala One Plus, that's how they charge so fast.

There is a screen protector issue?
Probably talking about earlier folds where if you peeled it off, the screen is much more easily damaged? Pretty sure that was fixed with the second fold where it's tucked under the bezels now, and other foldables learnt from that too and did the same.

Alternatively, not the screen protector itself, but the Fold 3 and 4 uses "ultra thin glass" which seems to crack around the crease after a year or so. Pixel Fold seems to use the same type of display:

Ultra-thin glass with protective plastic layer
Hoping this is a more durable revision but we'll see next year.

Been watching some of the Google stuff unfold since the release.

Was potentially interested in the home tablet. But it's too much. Especially the price hike in the UK. As a smart display it's too much.

This phone? Wow. That's expensive.

I still don't understand the appeal. Of folding phones at all. But I really don't understand when the camera is cut back. (if that's correct)

Its thicker, won't last as long, and the screen ratio just doesn't sit with me.

Still think this is way over priced for people who want one. But looks like a lot of googles stuff is now

Looks nice but absolute whopper price on this at circa £1800.

I don't have confidence in the battery either if the battery on my pixel 6 is anything to go by, but I do use mine a lot.
