Google Pixel Fold

I know people keep knocking the price, but ultimately, what other option is there if you want a foldable with this form factor i.e. a wider front screen than the Galaxy Foldable? The other options tend to be China only and even if you import or buy grey, you'll be without Google Pay even if you install Google Play services.

Coming from a Galaxy Fold 2, the G2 will be a better chip so my experience will be improving.

You are right, there isn't much choice if you want a wider cover screen. But I do feel that Google is pricing their stuff high to make it seem more premium and trying to go blow for blow with apple. But Google hardware just can't cut it. Samsung prices their item high too but you can find discount codes or reduce the cost with good trade-in deals.

SoC wise the G2 is only slighter better than the SD 856 in the Fold 2. In some comparisons, the SD 856 outperforms the G2, especially in multi-core.

I'm talking more about battery life as that's usually the issue with Tensor vs newer generation Snapdragons, according to that site the battery life should be better vs the 856. The battery life on my Fold2 is awful, I would say form factor and battery are the two reasons I'm getting a new phone.

Received mine today, so far so good! Definitely a lot of work to be done with third party apps due to them essentially opening in landscape mode, rather than portrait.

Hopefully with the Pixel Fold and Tablet we will see progress towards better large screen android apps.

Yeah, **** that!

That first gen tax.

It wouldn't be so bad if it delivered on battery life and had much better app support.

The software experience on pixels foldable and tablets leaves a lot to be desired.

One UI is so far ahead, I don't see Google catching up within a year

If anyone can do it Google, King of software can.

Tbh I'd still pick the Pixel Fold over the Samsung alternative as it stands.

Problem is it seems to have reduced some of the hardware (camera as well) and the battery life doesn't seem good enough. Can't help but feel I'd find it a bit gimmicky after a while...

Also the price is just way too much. I'll be waiting for the Pixel 8 Pro I think.

Have to say this is the first phone in years hat has tempted me away from the iphone. The main drawback is that the majority of reviewers have called it out for poor battery life :(. Also it is quite pricy

Definitely best to wait for next year. Hopefully Google takes in all the feedback. Main thing bugging me is how the top protective layer is not tucked in like the later Samsung Folds, as well as the efficiency of Tensor. Hopefully Tensor G3 is more focused on power consumption.
