Poll: Google Street View - good or bad

I like it. Definitely has its uses for exploring places you haven't been before, but need to go to. Or just exploring.

These people that complain about Google Street View infuriate me

I found it a very useful tool when I was in the US.
Makes it so much easier to recognise things

I've already found it useful for finding directions around London, and Im visiting Manchester tomorrow and has been useful in know where Im going.

Absolutely, Google Earth is great for seeing a reasonable overview of where you want to go but with Street View you can get right down to ground level and check out lane markings, signs, landmarks etc. Very handy if you're not not sure where you're going.

Don't have a problem with google earth or street view as it's just an old picture, if it were a live video then it might be different.

tbh, it's handy, i've used it a few times for scoping out a few places before visiting them

I dont have problem as well - it look nicely with 3d street view, why people complaint about it?? there is no privacy law also it help people to find where the address is if need to find correct direction.

Maybe people who complaint about it hidden something like blue movies or like this....dont you think???

It's a great tool, and I'm sick of people complaining about it.

Google even remove your image/house if you ask them too, which is pretty nice of them considering they're not breaking any laws.

I fail to understand why people are saying that burglars will take advantage of it.

Burglars can just go to your house in real life, real time to check it out. Same as police stations etc. I can walk right round a police station and look at its security, but all of sudden people start going crazy cause they see an old picture of it online. Idiots.

You wouldn't jump on some guy with a camera taking a picture of a street, so why would you jump on a car with a camera taking a picture of a street? Really, unless you are outside your house doing something you shouldn't be, there is no reason to oppose it. Some people...

And just to add to my initial response to the thread, I have now decided the people of this village must be inbred, and they all sleep together out in front of their houses, hence not wanting to be photographed.

The villagers complain that their homes are being recorded on street view yet let their houses appear on BBC news?
