Google - Take Action

Google is awesome, in homage I've rewritten an outdated prayer to suit my feelings.

Our Google who art the internet,
Hallowed be thy data,
thy modem come,
thy install will be done,
in my home as it is in Mountain View.
Give us this day our daily data.
And forgive us our uses of Bing,
as we forgive those who troll our Youtube.
And lead us not into massive amounts of weird porn,
but deliver us from /b/.
For thine is the information superhighway,
for the Pbits per second, and the low ping,
forever and ever.

:D

That's good. :)

Ummm

You need a license to have a TV because the bbc produces most of this countries content and you pay through this license.

Incompetency on the internet is only going to hurt you, unlike driving which can take lives.
You still don't understand the internet though do you? Have you ever heard of VPNs or distributed p2p networks like tor which can make anyone anonymous.
I don't think you would pass this competency test you are talking about.

In short, it doesn't matter how many tests you have, as long as you have some little country not cooperating. You will have trolls who are anonymous.

I'm saying every IP address would be publicly registered to the individual who is licensed to use it. Right now only ISPs/organizations are registered through ARIN/RIPE/etc, all you have to do is make a law that when someone passes their license exam and is allocated their individual static IP address it gets publicly registered to their name and address, instead of the ISP's.

Then if you need more IPs for whatever reason you go through the licensing organisation who transfer the registration from the ISP to you. Just like buying and selling cars from a dealer. Your license is linked to that registration and you are now solely liable for everything that goes through that IP.

If someone gets caught illegally letting other people use an IP with VPNs or P2P or whatever they get their license revoked. Like 5 years for an intentional breach or say 3 months for a breach due to incompetent security.

Signed it. I know Google want are our data but a free Internet with google doing all it does is much better than one regulated and censored by idiotic Governments...

I think people should need a license to access the internet. It's a part of the infrastructure just like the roads and you need a license to drive a car.
.

...and talking of idiots. I think you need a license to post. Would stop most of your drivel.

What I find more concerning than this subject matter is the fact that we have 2, yes TWO posters in this thread named after My Little Pony characters. That's like confessing that you like Care Bears or Hello Kitty, on a technical forum where virtually everyone is male!

News just in - I like Tinkerbell :p

Considering Fluttershy had his name changed by the mods to such... There's still 1 too many :D

I thought fluttershy was a pokemon?! I'll strangle those blessed kids

So "Paris Hilton ft. Lil Wayne - Last Night " is your idea of top quality content?

I honestl;y think their should be a license exam. It used to be self-regulating because you'd have to type in text commands to get on the internet, and the web pages where full of useful info, but now anyone can do it and it's full up of paris hilton and link farm spam.

And you had to be rich or have access to it though university. Now you dont even need a keyboard you can record your inane dross on your phone and upload it straight to the net.

Also I think if you hold a valid license in some professional field like you're a doctor or plumber you can be exempt from the exam, so you can use it for legitimate commercial and educational purposes.

Hahaha.

Although that song is dire, everything else you are saying is rubbish.

Sounds like SOPA and ACTA version 2.

Your living in a country that has the right to freedom of speech. Do you not see the irony in using that very right in an effort to curtail it?

Weird one for me this as all I want is Freedom but then I frequent here loads & it's the strictest Forum I know.
I like rules in certain cases but I like to choose which ones are relevant to me & improving what I do rather than hinder it.
I think they only need to restrict the under 18's & us adults should be able to choose what we do.

Talk of licences is utterly stupid. Are people in third world countries or those on low incomes now not allowed to go on the internet any more then? Just a tool for the middle and upper classes I guess? And how will assigned IPs work in communal areas or public wifi. No more purchasing stuff whilst you're out and about? This future internet sounds like a right good lark.

There are far more pressing issues that society needs to face and solve first before the internet is regulated.

Governments have totally the wrong idea. Priorities.
