Google - thanks for Streetview. Wow when you use it - it really pays off!

When I actually got there in real life I seriously felt like Id been there before. the streets were spot on - all the shops I saw on SV were right there I recognized all of them. That combined with the GPS unit in the car = absolutely not getting lost and went from my house to the parking lot stress-free.

So ummm...this goes out to the super-nerd Google guys & gals - thanks :) It so totally helped me out I had to broadcast it on a forum :D

Was it your first time visiting England?:p

My sat nav (co-pilot on iphone) works well with a house number to go by - it will nearly always take you right outside or at lease next door, which is handy if there is a long line of houses on a main road which are hard to see the numbers on.

I use streetview on the more difficult locations like in villages, which there are house names and it is harder to work out a location. Very handy.

I think it's the best product Google ever done (apart from search). I just find it amazing that I can zoom in on Gothenburg for example, and take a street tour of the whole place. There's nothing to see, so now I didn't have to go and pay £500+ to go there and realise there's nothing to see :p

I found streetview excellent when I was looking for a house, just looked at them on the agents website then used streetview to get an idea of the street and area

This - it's amazing how nice Estate agents make some places look with selective photography - get on streetview and you soon see a completely different picture! :p

I used it recently when booking a hotel in gran canaria. Found the name of a hotel, put in the address, and then worked out what the view would be like and what was close by - by walking around :)

It worked a treat. Highly recommended. And like someone else said, its kinda like you know where you are before you get there

I am loving my phone at the moment, everytime we go for a mini adventure my phone stays close with google maps on the app shortcut list.

Last weekend we got lost in some wood with the dogs, got out my phone, loaded up google maps, gps tracked, put on walking mode and it showed us a route out which would have taken 13 mins and 10 seconds at normal walking pace, as we knew we weren't ridiculously lost, we went further in to get really lost and stumbled across a old barn and some fields which looked like something out of the wild west only british... Was amazing, no one knew it was there, in the middle of the forest.

So thank you google, you left us with confidence to wonder into some strangers fields, pat his horses and take pictures of his secluded barn. You go!

It bemuses me that people can get so lost when they suddenly lose their satnav.
Do people not have the massive AA road maps on the back seat anymore?

You're the first to mention that, not heard anyone else saying so? Personally I do keep an AA road map with me, just in case.

True about the map, I personally like using the map rather than a sat nav. I can choose the route :)

I still carry one of the Philips Navigator Britain 1.5 mils to 1" jobs and still use OS maps occasionally. The Sat Nav is just another toy, I’ll get there using my sense of direction and route. :D
