GoPro Hero 4

I cracked and ordered one from Curry's, to be picked up tomorrow evening. My order with gpdealer says they still don't have stock.

If I can't cancel, anyone interested in a Black for £360? :)

I bought a GoPro Hero 2014 on Sunday and made a motorbike video log using it.

I'll post it up when it's uploaded.

As a quick summary, I'm seriously impressed with it for the price, and the battery life is about 2-2.5 times as good as the Hero 4/3+ Black.

**EDIT** Also, what's the best video editing software to maintain the high frame rate and 4K resolution? At the moment I use Corel Video, it definitely has a 4K option for encoding, but if I use the 1080p mp4 settings, will it keep the high frame rate?

In general, you don't want to edit and output high frame rate footage at the speed it was originally shot at. If you play 120fps footage back as normal, it's just very smooth, fast and odd looking.

The benefit of shooting at a high frame rate is so that it gives you super smooth slow motion when you conform it down to a more common frame rate such as 23.98fps, 24fps, 25fps, 30fps etc.

The other aspect is that there is very few places you can actually display footage shot at a high frame rate natively. YouTube not so long ago introduced 60fps playback, but its mostly aimed at video game footage. Video played at 60fps looks very 'real', even more so than the 30fps 'video look', so not really that desirable.

Your editing software can possibly output a video at 1080p @120fps, but then you wouldn't really want to and like I said, there is no where online where you can play it back as such.

Okay, I'll try and set a test up later, just leave it running looking at a clock!

Sample 4K footage btw -

Superview has a pretty amazing wide angle (high and low). I didn't expect to see my speedo when the camera is mounted up on the top of my helmet!

I'm gutted i only just bought my Go Pro 3+ Silver only 2 months ago for my trip to the states!

(After loosing my Go Pro Hero Gorging in the beacons last year)

Anybody bought the Hero yet? any reviews on battery life? really like the look of these, i dont need the spec of the black model

having looked at the Hero for £99 - it looks good but the downside I can see is straight away is "integrated battery" - i.e you can't carry extra ones and change them.

That could be a deal brake for some. Videos popping up on youtube now.

Battery test done, Hero 3 (which has a year old battery to be fair) against the Hero 4. Both stopped within 20 seconds of each other at the 1hr 39 minute mark.

One of the things that put me off, but a fully waterproof/crashproof action cam for £99 is amazing.

Battery life was the only thing that would have made me replace my 3 so good to know nothing's reallly changed.

Exactly my thoughts. Higher frame rate for slo-mo at 1080p is tempting but really not worth the cost/hassle of upgrade. Maybe the hero 5....
