GoPro Hero 4

Very interested in the £99 GoPro for a bit of casual video, doing some recording of Olympic lifting but being able to record at a higher fps offered by the better models for some slow motion footage

Just bought a couple of the £99 GoPro's at work for Training purposes - have to say have been very impressed with the 60fps 720p footage, and battery life seems to be pretty good so far

I have one of these on order - looking forward to using 120fps 1080p for some nice slow motion shots but also 4K video for the ability to crop in and still have plenty of detail left over ...

All to go on my DJI F550 hexacopter with H3-3D gimbal - hoping for some good footage!

Has anyone found any good example videos from the £99 Hero?

I want to start taking videos on holiday / when climbing or riding but think I'm better off with something cheap as a starter in case I don't really get into it.
I do however want to have flexibility with some of the touches and could do with seeing the quality comparison between 720p / 1080p and if the 60fps at 720p will allow the sort of slow-mo I think I'd make use of.

I've snagged a good deal on a gopro black 3+ that someone was selling off. Was in the market for the £99 hero but the deal on the black was too good.

Think I am going to go for a 3+ Silver - I really need the 120fps video, and having it on 720p is enough really. If the new ones offered 240fps at 1080 / 720 I would have been pushed.

Anyone know why the release date on most sites is 5th November? One site says they're in stock but am afraid they might be early "unrefined" models?

Probably because Madison (the UK distributor) is expecting the next shipment several days before that, and has updated retailers with this info.

where are you getting that info from?

they're refusing to give any ETA at the moment.

Presumably he's just based it on the fact that after they went out of stock, that was the date that started appearing on most shops stock systems. Madison is the distributor so it would have come from them.

Dates all seem to be quite different one sites now, so things have obviously changed. I said before the launch that the same thing happened with the Hero3 Black.... it went out of stock immediately and then there were limited numbers supplied until January of the following year.

No. I was told by two different suppliers that I'd put orders in with that they'd received an email from Madison saying their initial stock allocation had been halved, and that the next shipment was due in on 31st October. I don't recall all the details (it was a month ago), but one of the retailers called me to apologise after I'd placed the order - he'd received the email on the Friday before the launch date. He provided me with more info than I'd expected as he's a very helpful chap who I'd made contact with via a different forum. He currently has stock available for immediate delivery, according to a promo email I received yesterday.
