GoPRO Shooting M4 Carbine

The full length version of the AR15/M16 features a 20" barrel too so the M4 being a carbine cant really be directly compared to the SA80. The latter is still a short weapon due to the bullpup design it has. Also rifling of the barrel and the particular weight of bullet used will be factors as well.

This might be a silly question, but is it possible to own an SA80, or are they only made for the military? I know it's possible to get deactivated ones.

Came across something interesting while googling the subject and according to wikipedia the M4's 14" barrel is too short to give the best performance with 5.56mm ammunition. So would that mean the SA80 is the better weapon with its 20" barrel?

The M4 is a carbine, the L85A2 is a rifle. A carbine is not going to be able to produce the same amount of muzzle velocity and accuracy when firing the same round as something with a longer barrel, but then, carbines have their own advantages over longer weapons - hence their existence.

The L85A2 is shorter than the M4 (with stock extended) if wikipedia has its stats right...

I haven't looked at the measurements, but if that's true it's thanks to the L85A2's bullpup design configuration: long rifle barrel in a shorter overall length due to the receiver being behind the trigger assembly.

N00b shooter on the plates - I'm already moving to the next plate immediately after pulling the trigger, you shouldn't wait for the plink of the round hitting the plate before moving on, it slows you down :)

Yes you can if you have a Section 5 certificate.

A person commits an offence if, without the authority of the Defence Council [F1or the Scottish Ministers (by virtue of provision made under section 63 of the Scotland Act 1998)], he has in his possession, or purchases or acquires, or manufactures, sells or transfers—

[F2(a)any firearm which is so designed or adapted that two or more missiles can be successively discharged without repeated pressure on the trigger;

(ab)any self-loading or pump-action [F3rifled gun] other than one which is chambered for .22 rim-fire cartridges;
99.9% wont get section 5 clearence

Not really, as neither of those professions need a FAC issued to anyone. Semi and fully automatic arms dealers, and vets with Section 5 dispatch weapons will be issued Section 5 certifcates.

Both fall under the clause of permission from the defence council though.

My original statement was aimed at 99.99% of all shooter who... cannot own a semi automatic above a .22lr

Do you shoot small game or are you a longtime range member, if you got all of those first time out either you Fao loves you or you have a lot of justifyable reason and experience. First 3 are technically one calibre. .233 remmy is a liytle lucky unless you shoot foxes which explains why they gave that.
7.62/308 im supriaed you got unless you have a perm for deer.

Cmon spill the beans lol

All purely target practice. ;)
