This isn't directly on topic but I'm a touch curious where this assertion comes from? Speaking personally I couldn't give a monkies about the Royal family, they don't (directly) impact on my life either positively or negatively so I don't see any need to alter the status quo that means they exist.

Just my personal experience. My dad's family, for example, are all Scottish and republicans. Most Scottish people I've discussed the issue with have been against them, many Scottish posters in Speakers' Corner have been against them et al.
Scotland has also always been traditionally a Labour stronghold in politics; Labour have always been the party most against the Monarchy.

It was only a light-hearted generalization in any case, no offense was meant. :)

None was taken, I was just curious as it didn't tally so much with my own experiences or thoughts on the matter although of course there are certainly a lot of Scots who dislike the Monarchy. :)

What, Dundee?
Its the fourth largest city in scotland.

Yeah Dundee, I know of a Restaurant that is called Dundees and we had that Homogay Movie called Crocodile Dundee filmed down here.

It just seems to be a very Stereotypical Australian word or a town that you would find in the outback or somewhere where there isnt many people

Hmm but the Scots thought of it first :p There are many place names in both Australia and the USA which are the same as British towns and cities :)

Without wishing to assume your level of knowledge you are probably aware that Perth for instance is also a town in Scotland(not too far from me actually) as well as a city in Western Australia?

An awful lot of the names that you might assume to be Australian are in fact just taken from the 'old' country, it is much the same in North America and I suppose will happen any time you have people emmigrating(and it has to be said showing a bit of a lack of imagination in their naming strategy).

Yeah I know we have some of the same names.

But we will always have Wagga Wagga :p

That would depend. I'd say that a doley has little disposable income, whereas many workers do have a significant disposable income and even the capacity to invest their money in their mortgage.

My wife is a travel agent and she has a surprisingly large number of doley's and single mums who come and often book holidays abroad.

We went to some aquanatal classes whilst she was pregnant and some surestart midwives were there, they were telling us how young girls will openly say the got pregnant so they could get a house and when they got the £1000 to buy stuff for the new arrival they go out and spend it on themselves and there was nothing they could do about it.

It's just wrong

Yes some people are in unfortunate positions and need help but I always thought that the dole and such were devised to get you out of a tight spot for a while not be a lifestyle.
And Brown will be worse than Blair.
The conservatives needed to be kicked out, but now it's reched that point for labour.

Since when did people have to disclose their marital/employment status when booking a holiday?

Nay.

Don't like him, and don't want a Jock running the country.

Blair wasnt born in Edinburgh wasnt he ;)

I wouldnt vote for anyone in the Labour party , the party who took us to a illegal war in iraq , lied to the british people and have taxed us via the back door.

The worst thing is, the 'real alternative' Libdems have kicked their leader out and become unelectable imo.
I'd rather Charles Kennedy drunk than Campbell sober, in fact i'd rather Kennedy drunk than Cameron or Brown sober.

They don't, but it's a small town and I'm talking about regulars etc. It's surprising what people tell a travel agent . . .why? don't ask me

The lib dems, meh.
The country would be in turmoil in five minutes under the lib dems.

Well my issue with the Lib dems was always that they would never be able to deliver, but at least they meant well.

Im not so sure i agree, the Queen Mother for example was very highly thought of by a lot of the older generation of Scots. I personally can take or leave them which doesnt make me an anti-royalist as such.

In fact the Scots historically have been fairly royalist (depending a little on who the royal happened to be of course).

I think this poll demonstrates how out of touch Labour are. They know they can't survive much longer with TB in charge so they selfishly believe we are all in love with GB.

How wrong they are.

Or, as an alternative thesis, just how out of touch the OcUk forums are ;)
Out of touch is harsh, more like unrepresentative of the country as a whole. Which is what you'd expect of a forum founded on overclocking PCs.
