Mr Brown said: "This will be a new government with new priorities. And I have been privileged to have been granted the great opportunity to serve my country.

Gordon Brown said:
And at all times I will be strong in purpose, steadfast in will, resolute in action in the service of what matters to the British people, meeting the concerns and aspirations of our whole country.

Am I being pedantic here or is Gordon Brown's country not Scotland?

Is it appropriate for him as a Scott to continually refer to country when he means Great Britain & Northern Ireland? Or does he ?

And to add balance.

Speaking on his Webcameron internet site, the Tory leader said: "Gordon Brown doesn't have the mandate, he wasn't elected as prime minister, and he should go to the country.

Is this not Tory hypocrisy when one considers how John Major became Prime Minister?

the sooner he leaves power the better, we need an election. i know other partys haven't before but who cars, this is the present.

Gordon brown has done nothing good for this country and will only add to its destruction .

I may not agree with all expressed in your post, but I do agree that the actions of those in the past should not necessarily dictate the actions of those in the present or the future.

To the OP

I think you just may be jealous that your next primeminister will be another Scot.

Your ignorance is shining though like just fine. :)

I do not care what Nation my Prime Minister comes from as long as he does a good job. Gordon Brown in my opinion is currently the best man for the job.

Your point is moot.

A typo is not an indication of ignorance. :)

Actually, the UK is a country, comprised of other countries.

You appear to be correct although the issue is understood to be confusing and contentious. I have never understood it that way before. Seems to absolve Gordon of any wrongdoing and added to my education. :)

His mistake is being Scottish? So as the leader of this nation, the UK, he should address everyone in it as different from himself? Get a grip and find something substantial to moan about.

How do you construe my post that only asks questions as moaning ?

I made no comment that I was unhappy with his statement. I just questioned its accuracy.

Why is this an issue with you now all of a sudden with Gordon?

Your PM for the last decade was born in Edinburgh.

Your ignorance of the democracy and Union in this country is outstanding.

This is for you..

Thank you I have always wanted a Blue Peter badge. :)

When I questioned the use of the word county in a particular context, I was not expecting the Spanish Inquisition. :) This has now been suitably answered elsewhere in the thread.

What statement have I made with regard to democracy to display ignorance ?

As posted elsewhere in the thread I have no problem with Gordon Brown.
