I never eat carbs before bed. I always have something high in casein with some fats.

Do you ever eat anything other than something to do with supplements. Food which can be bought in store etc.

What about oakcakes? for bowl of oats, which brand? theres so many different type cereals.

Thought casein was a supplement? if not whats high in casein?

Casein is a protein that digests slowly meaning you're supplied with protein all night preventing catabolism. Cheese and milk are rich in it but their high fat content makes isolated casein a more sensible option.

Supplements = evil

lol, well if im wanting to lose body fat (maintaing muscle) would it be a good idea to have quark before sleep or would it just put fat on?

What's your take on colostrum Chong?
Too expensive. I looked into it ages ago but just doesn't make sense to spend that much money on it.

Indeed, look what they did to me.... I just sit in the gym munching on vitamin pills, snorting creatine and injecting pure amino acids! :D

I don't really agree, supplements aren't evil, but it's better (imo anyway) to have a sufficient diet, than use vitamin pills, whey etc to support it. Main problem is the cost, more than anything else.

Supplement: A nutrient or phytochemical supplied in addition to that which is obtained in the diet.

Come on people lets not lose sight of reality here! Protein, multi-vitamins and "sports supps" (like creatine etc.) are there as a supplement, an addition, a support to an already healthy, well balanced diet. I'm positive that no one on this forum uses whey as their *only* source of protein!!

Of course we could all get the vits, minerals and macros we need from "whole foods" but sometimes due to work, time, family and/or cost (all real life considerations) its necessary to make a "meal" from whey, oats, fish oil/flax etc.

You've really not been hanging round here long enough yet to realise how wrong that statement is :D

CW got me eating Tesco Organic Jumbo Rolled Oats. ~£1 for 750gms. A little more expensive than your average own brand oats but they are more "oaty" and when blended (in a dry blender) to a powder they produce a finer flour than smaller, cheaper oats.

Quark is ultra low in fat and low in carbs but fairly high in protein (casein). Its a better option that toast with jam imho

Alright I'll give that a shot. What I meant from the original statement was is there anything other than supps you take before bed, as in a question rather than a hostile or sarcastic comment.

When you go shopping for Quark its usually in the cheese section next to ricotta and the like. DON'T FORGET the options tho, quark on its own is really sour

However you meant that comment i'm sure CW took it in a friendly way, unless he's got supp rage.......you really don't wanna mess when he's supp'd up to the eyeballs  ;) ;)

Lol a lot of you say no to supps and a lot say yes. I'll give it a miss for now incase I get any bad side effects such as gaining fat or something.

So what flavour of this quark do you rec?

Quark is always unflavoured, what most of us do is add a hot chocolate powder called Options. It'll be with the tea and coffee, near the drinking chocolate. It comes in small sachets in various flavours ~22p a time. Choc orange is the best but choc mint is also good. I've tried some of the other flavours and they're not strong enough to mask the natural sour taste of the quark.

The options is low cal, low carb so don't worry about "gaining fat" ;)
