Suit is overkill, smart ironed trousers, likewise with a shirt and wear a tie, suit jacket is over the top imo for tescos, unless you are applying for a managers role.
I agree with this, I love wearing a suit and have a few but probably wouldn't wear a full suit to an interview as a CG Artist for example, as it would be far too formal for the type of industry I'd be interviewing for.
I'd say that wearing a suit every day takes the shine off it somewhat but then again I never was all that keen on suits so I've simply grown to accept it. It does however look good if you wear a suit well i.e. it fits, it's clean and you don't look like you're on your way to appear before a judge.
I think for most job interviews it's probably better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed and it's easy enough to take off a suit jacket or a tie if you realise that it's too formal for the role.
A three-piece suit? Or maybe a morning suit with pocket watch, top hat and cane? Although I wouldn't be totally surprised if it means a basic two-piece suit with a tie.
