Well decided to ditch the 307.....

and got myself a practical, more powerful, less chav attracting car :-)......

am sooo happy with it, spent ages looking for a decent one and now got it!

2003 GT TDI 130, 29K and one lady owner, very happy :-)

1 lady owner, so all the wheels are curbed, its never had its oil checked and its covered in parking scrapes? Why people think a lady owner car is a plus point i've no idea. Viewed one the other week - it had literally just been driven and thats that. Which is about what my Mum does with cars as well.

Still, improvement on the 307 but then so is anything. Mk4 Golf GT's are a bit bland really as it has nothing at all to pick it out from a 1.4 CL.

How much?

bought it from a dealer, had a full service, MOT Cam belt change

and for the record, not wheels curbed, paint and bodywork is in mint condition

That's what I love most about mine :D

Without the badges it's almost indistinguishable from a 1.4

i paid more than i would have done if i had bought it privately...fair point but im happy to pay the extra for the warranty and be able to go back if something goes wrong

as said, very happy with it

I know everyone has different tastes but dear god what branch of Halfords did that 307 crash into?

You are correct on the lack of attention however, when something as badly styled as that drives past my first reaction is to point then the second one is to laugh.

So all in all good upgrade just don't do the same thing to this one.

well said...

probably going to post the 307 on barryboys actually

i can say i didnt ever buy anything from halfords for the 307....other than Meguiars cleaning stuff lol

the new car will NOT be modified - had enough of that now, grown up and moving on, although a remap might be a nice idea....

does it matter? i spent ages trying to find one exactly like this, and its exactly what i wanted so was more than happy to spend the cash on it

Of course it matters, if I posted on here saying I'd just spent £15,000 on an 04 plate Mondeo for example it doesnt matter how long I spent looking I'd still get people asking if I was insane.

Thats a LOT of money for a 5 year old Golf. A LOT. You can get Mk5's for that sort of money now..

How did it take that long to find? It's a completely standard Golf TDI 130. It's not even the rarer 150 version!

Anyway, if you are happy then great but people are entitled to offer their opinions on the deal as thats what forums are for :)
