Got me a new car

The fact you got to "blag" or telling a little porkey for a joy ride of a X or Y car suggests your currently NOT in the market for a placements car just yet, yes? Doesn't anyone think its pointless unless you are seriously replacing your car?

...........

I hope I have made it clear and someone understands this as I am probably in the minority here who share this view. I'm afraid we are going to agree to disagree on this topic. anything else?

I dont see how it is any more pointless than for example going to a sports match, slobbing round a friends, going for a walk etc (just thinking what else i possibly do at weekends). Those activities are dead time too if you look at it like that.

I would never bother testing something i wasnt interested in, ive never test driven run of the mill stuff, as yeah its think that it is pointless and a waste of everyones time. However if i had not done any random test drives i wouldnt know (for example) that i definately want a 996 C4 Cabriolet, i wasnt seriously planning on one at the time but i was curious as i saw that they have become quite a possibility with the current prices. I also wouldnt know (for example) that looking at RX7 FD's is a waste of time because they are horrible to drive - on paper they look great and i liked them before actually driving one.

Means i can form an accurate overal opinion on what is good and what is not, as paper doesnt tell the whole story with higher end cars.

Re the minority thing, its a motoring enthusiast forum, i am sure lots would agree but this is not really the right place to not be interested in testing random fast cars :D

There's nothing wrong with test driving new cars - its certainly fun - but I doubt that anyone could find it a particularly useful exercise in terms of properly evaluating cars because a test drive with a salesman in tow is going to be way too short and the driving conditions far too limited.

Take the Skoda Fabio TDi. For the first hour that I drove it, it seemed 'okay'. After 1 week of driving it through cities, up and down mountain passes, from one side of Spain to the other, I wanted to throw the car down a ravine and take the train instead.
