Got raped by Steam

Agreed how are you to know if these account are hacked and stolen. Customer services can be right ***** at times. I think you need to go up the tree and ask for his superior.

I did try making a new support ticket but it just got merged into the old one and dealt with by the same person again. If I made a new ticket complaining about the staff member I've been dealing with then it would probably just get sent on to the same person again. If that happens, maybe they'll do something worse.

Also, I did a bit of research. As far as I know there aren't any customer support staff with more powers than the next.

Why?

They have not blocked access to his account. What can trading starndards do?

I would email [email protected]

Also reply to the support ticket asking it be raised to a superior.

Also tweet them with the ticket number asking them look into it if you use Twitter of course.

Already done it mate - hoping Gaben will come through for me. ^^

As per my previous post, I don't think support staff have superiors at Valve (other than their employers of course, but it's not their job to deal with such cases). If Gabe doesn't come through for me then I'll give it a go though, it's worth a try.

Don't use Twitter but depending how long this goes on for, I'm willing to try just about anything.

Steam CS generally sucks & the reps are a bunch of plebs when it comes to trying to sort stuff out.

What exactly are 'stolen goods'? Did they identify which products were stolen? What happens to the people who you got this stuff from?

Also lol @ NEDM cat.

EDIT: Oh no! I've been accused of stealing the internet & will be banned shortly :(

They won't tell me what the goods or who I got them from. I've looked through my inventory history and there's nothing that automatically looks suspicious. I'm in the process of trying to contact people I've traded with recently to try and find out more information.

Question: Is trading for profit allowed for this service? If not do you think they are hitting your account as they think your trading for profit and the stolen goods are nothing but a cover story?

It's a bit silly they have banned your account but will not say why or what items was the cause. That is really bad customer service tbh.

Hope you get it sorted.

Yes, it is allowed. One large trading site was founded by a Valve employee and big transactions occur there daily.

The guy who owns TF2 Shop claims to have dealt in over $1,000,000 of transactions.

I agree completely. It makes defending myself much more difficult, though I've tried to give them all the information I can.

Sorry but it is entirely YOUR responsibility to verify the origin and legality of items you are dealing in.

You: "Hello. Im just messaging you to confirm that this game has been purchased through a legitimate source"

Russian hacker: "Hello. I hacked into Steam's servers to obtain multiple copies of this game for free so I can sell them for profit. I hope this isn't a problem"

...seems legit.

There's no way to do this however.

Hopefully your email to Gabe will sort this out. I very much suspect that like when emailing Tim Cook, anything of this kind of issue goes through to Senior Customer Services who just get it sorted.

That sounds incredibly crappy, how can they possibly punish you for something that you couldn't have any knowledge of. To me it sounds like there's a flaw in their system for which you're being punished.

If Steam customer support aren't willing to help out I'd be kicking up a fuss on one of the PC orientated game reporting sites and on Reddit.

Steam Guard is the verification, you have to enable it in order to trade. Obviously people get their e-mail and then their Steam account compromised which leads to this particular scenario but there's no way for a person on the other end of the trade to know (I doubt asking would work).

Indeed, the next step for me is posting on Reddit and other sites. I intend to kick up as much fuss about this as possible. I've simply got too much at stake to simply take it on the chin. Just wish there were more options it doesn't even seem possible to reach Steam Support by phone.
