Morning all,

I got a phone call from my beot last night, saying they've just been robbed at their work. I wasn't surprised by this fact as this is the second time his work has been robbed, by the same guys. He works at a video store, Block Busters.

Some guys came in there, pointed a guy to his head and asked for all the cash out of the tills. Obviously he just did as they asked. Then they went next door and robbed the Steers as well. It's a food take away place, make a lot of money on Wednesdays. As they have a special on those days.

In total they got away with around R13,000 and two customer's cars. :(

They guy who owns these stores is my boss at my work as well, this is the second time and the police are just useless. They arrived 10 minutes after it was reported in two cars and four cops got out with heavy machine guns. AK 47's I think and heavy chest protection.

Thing is, my Boss has now really got to take some security measures. As the place has no cameras and these guys know they can just get away with it!

My boet is okay though. :)

Even though it may only be a thousand pound there, it's thirteen thousand Rand here. A lot of money. But I couldn't care less about it. Just glad they didn't harm my brother.

Watch there will be another thread here in two months, Robbed, again.

Oh, gosh, forgive me if I made it sound like it wasn't much money, I never meant that at all! I was just converting it to pounds to see how much it was, £1000 is a lot of money from a robbery like that, as Zip said!!

It's fine bro, I didn't mean it to sound like that and I know you didn't either. ;)

Beot = Brother. :cool:

Yes, you guys are right, I'm surprised my boss didn't install those sort of things the first time it happened.

Much worse bru. That's why I'm in Durban. Stayed in JoBurg until I was 11. Moved to Uk until I was 16. Now back here in Durban. Still love beeing back here though.

Why dont you shift to England or Australia?

Because I spent five years in England. Didn't like it. Too cold, too dull. :(

This is my home, and I love the hot climate and the people here along with our South African ways. Crime is bad, but you get that all over the world.

Australia might be more your style?
We have a whole variety of climates and are basically positioned to the south just as much as you lot are :)

I hear it's very hard to get into that country to stay and live? I love Australia. But like I say I think it would be very hard to get in there.

I don't have a problem with you saying that - I can understand someone from a warm and sunny climate finding the UK too cold/dull in comparison :)

It's like owning a top of the line sports car for for three years. Then going back to a 1.4 Bakkie or car. Just isn't the same. :(

Well it is. But if you've been brought up with it and know how to handle certain things and take the measures. Then it's fine. I still love it here. I have not regretted coming back ever since arriving back from the UK. Also found the girl of my dreams, got a lakker job. I couldn't be happier. :D

Lol. I had to. :(

I own a BMW 525i. Such a lovely car to drive, so much fun. But she's gotta go. Now I'm riding a motorbike = fun.

Zip: Ha ha ha, no bru. That was one guy who did that in Jo'Burg to his silver BMW. Unfortantly, his car was still taken off him, along with his life. :(

FunkyT: I have my reasons. I didn't like it in England, and there's no place like home. I'm very happy here. And in the seven months I've been back here, I am more happy then I ever was in England, the whole five years I was there. I don't need to justify my opinion to you, so I won't. If you're offended by my actions and opinions, well you know where the back button is, right? ;)

Stelly: So do I. However the chances of that happening, are very slim.

StooM: You have a point. However it's not like that. I mean we have car chases going on, where people are shooting at each other out the windows, like in the movies. We have people robbing video stores, knowing full well they will get off scot free. And not get caught. Hijackings ect. The list goes on. But the goverment are so screwed up here it's not funny.

Sic: Thanks for that, Sic.

Phantom: Did I mention I wasn't fully awake when I started the thread? Hence the spelling errors. Obviously I ment a gun. :p

MrMatteh: Some areas are worse then others. I stay in a town called, Hillcrest. Hardly any crime, and we get along just fine. I fully understand where you're coming from though.
