I'd have thought it'd need ten times that.
I wouldn't have either, the Golf is too big and the CTR is ugly and they're both too expensive. I have an actual hot hatch on the drive. The closest thing you get to it in a modern car anyway.Barry Smalley said:then see which one you'd fancy.![]()

Have they significantly lightened and shortened it?
Who said it had become that? Certainly not me.[TW]Fox said:Since when has 'Must only weigh the same or less than Gillys Clio' been a prerequisite for a hot hatch?
A hot hatch is a quick version of a regular hatch that is at home both popping into town or caning it down your local backroad. That's the hot hatch ethos.
Of course things have got heavier, the market has changed.

Isn't your Mondeo a hatch? The 220 is a quicker version. Does that make that a hot hatch?
No it does not. As you've pointed out in the past.
Really? I thought hatchback meant the shape of the rear of the car and how the boot works.saitrix said:Yes Fox's Mondeo is a hatchback version. No the 220 is not the quicker version, that is for the mk3, you might be better saying the ST200, at least that way you are comparing it to the same car. It does not make it a hot hatch due to it being in the family car/saloon class of car. When Fox says 'hatch' he is using it in the terms of a hatchback car (a smaller car then the Mondeo to help you out). That class would include such cars as Clio, Focus, Civic, Golf, Corsa, and the list goes on.
