Got wood?

The first one.

I sort of see what you mean. I mostly liked the interior of the E92 but it isnt angled towards the driver as per older interiors, the quality of materials isn't quite as nice, it rattles more and it's not as asthetically... thought out? Compare the door card to that of the E39. Sure it looks newer but it doesnt appear to match the dash. The trim doesn't flow - infact the trim on the door is in a completely different place - and the colours don't flow either. It's just.. mismatched. A lot of the changes also appear to be for the sake of it. I never did get the point in the push button start. It seems to be there purely to.. have a push button start. Foot on clutch, press button v turn key? Turning the key is just more logical.

The E39, although not visibly as fresh, flows right round - the bits of trim match up to the locations on the dash, everything just... fits. And it's built nicer. And it doesn't rattle like an E9x..

iDrive, however, is absolutely fantastic.

Silver looks more up to date and fits in quite well with the black coloured interior of your car. If you'd simply posted and didn't include pictures I'd have a mental image of an old school Rover with fake wood

When I was considering a Jaguar as my next car I was specifically looking at cars with wood trim as opposed to the piano black trim they come with. I have to admit though, judging by the pics your cars interior also looks a lot better with the wood trim. :)

Mmm walnut dash, reminds me of my old Rover 400.

But... whatever floats your boat i spose, it is your car afterall. But personally i prefer silver

I'm just not a big fan of that kind of wood (in the E39). The silver looked more clinical. Maybe you need to get a better colour of seat to match :p

And what of your feelings toward the poor '03 reg e39 that has died to give your e39 that little lift in its twilight years?

You heartless *******!:(

I do love the way everyone seems to think Rover are the only people who ever fit wood? It's also Ford Mondeo and Nissan Maxima and Range Rover. Infact a whole host of cars both good and bad. Seems a bit like saying black paint = Vauxhall. Manufacturers have fitted wood trim for decades because they beleive it gives a more 'luxury' feel. The result of this is that you'll find it fitted to both genuine luxury cars, and also junk that manufacturers want people to think are posh, like the Rover 400. It's also why it tends to appear in Ghia level Fords.

It looks like pish = valid observation
It looks like an old blokes car = valid observation (Most wood interiors are indeed fitted to cars preferred by the older generation)
Rover = as valid as claiming it looks like a Rover as it has a steering wheel, as Rovers have those as well :D

I didnt see anyone posting 'Looks like a Bentley' when mattyprice posted a picture of his Rover 75 interior ;)

Dont worry, the owner of that e39 will shortly be buying a set of silver trim pieces from eBay for £60, and then posting a thread on the internet about it :)
