GPU or CPU upgrade?

Hi All, looking to upgrade my PC but not sure what to go for first.

Current specs;
i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz
1080ti
Gaming at 1440p

I feel like I may see a bigger gain on a GPU? Stock and prices seem more reasonable than they were, likely looking at a 3080.

Any advice welcomed!

Definetly the GPU as you'll stand to gain around 60% performance with a 3080. Upgrading the CPU while keeping the 1080ti would result in virtually no extra performance and even with a 3080 @1440p you'll only gain on average 0-10% depending on the title.

Def GPU, your current CPU is fine. i ran the i5 for years just kept upgrading the GPU, final version was Vega64 was still good today. About a year ago i updated the system to Ryzan 9 3950, yeah overall PC was quicker but gaming wise not a massive jump using same card. However yeaterday i popped in the 3080 and i more or less doubled FPS
Into stats with 3950/64gb Ram with Vega 64 in 1 example i play a lot World of Tanks i got more or less 130 FPS at 1440p, if i switched to 4k it ran at 60 to 70 FPS. Now with the 3080 i got well over 240FPS at 1440 and 130 to 150 at 4k this is with Ultra settings and HDR. deffo go GPU, processors in my book are overated if your a gamer
