GPU Problems

I've only ever seen my GPU run at 70% load max when benchmarking. The CPU is cooled by a H60 but the radiator is a bit loose however it never gets warmer than 50 degrees. I overclocked the CPU and it didn't help.

Interesting, because it should be around 100%, that'd be why you are getting low fps I would think. have you tried the power slider thing?

Okay. So i installed GPU-Z and compared my card to others on Google images (Professional). I noticed that my PCI-E interface is 2.0 (I thought it was 3 :L) however, i don't think it would effect performance too much? I also noticed that the sub vendor is undefined! is my card a fake?!

Beside the Bus Interface box on GPU-Z is a question mark. Click it and start a render test and check to see if the value changes from 1.1 to 2.0.

Yes. it did.
When running the test there was a lot of large boxes flashing. is that normal?

Good thing you took that screenshot and posted it. That it goes up to 2.0 is good (I read further back in the thread that the GPU isn't running at 100% as it should, during stress tests) and would appear to rule out a problem with the PCI-E slot on the motherboard. But those boxes aren't normal. They shouldn't be appearing. The render test should produce smooth waves/clouds, no boxes. Seems to indicate a problem with the GPU. However, I'd still proceed with updating the BIOS and re-installing Windows, to rule those out first. Once you've done that, you can be more confident that it is indeed an issue with the GPU itself. And you could show that screenshot to the retailer, if you want to RMA.

Unless I missed this reply.

In Nvidia control panel under Manage 3D Settings.

Make sure Power Managment mode is on max, I've found that everytime I install new drivers it sets it to silly power saving mode, Giving me really really bad FPS in any games.

Worth a look?

Thanks, I've done this and am getting 120FPS which is good. Thanks for your help.
