I couldn't be bothered todo the broom handle idea in the end. My card isnt sagging that much, about 2 - 3mm down on the right. Plus that pic with the broken pcie, Im sure thats been done on purpose.

Hi, I have powercolor r9 290x which is heavy as hell and the sagging situation is worst and worst... I am really worried that it will eventually kill my pcie connector on my mobo. Is there any esthetically pleasing solution ?????

Turn the computer upside down, this will reverse the problem, once the sagging gets just as bad that way lie the computer on it's side and this will eliminate the problem completely.

:D

Bravo!

My GTX 780 cards don't sag at all, but the R9 280X (Gigabyte Windforce OC) in my partners PC sags a bit. I just put a couple of cable ties around the PCIe cables and then attached them the upper drive bay cage. It does the trick and feels secure :)

lol don't let your partner hear you say shes sagging !

Its a pity more cases don't support those oem brackets that some cards ship with, most reference coolers have 3 or 4 screw holes at the end where dell\alienware etc can attach a metal bracket that clicks into place in their cases. Would solve a lot of the problems with cards sagging if attaching one of these to a card and having somewhere in the case to attach it to was an option, even if it was a self adhesive point that it could connect to.

You can see the bracket on this quadro card, its mainly for keeping the card in its slot in transit but would obviously double up to stop it sagging.

Can I ask where you got it from? Not sure if it's okay to post links since OCUK dont actually stock them!

From ye olde bay of fleas. I remember looking for one of these a couple of years ago and couldn't source one in the UK. This post reminded me and I just put a search in on spec and one came up!

go buy a cheap piece of metal dowel, cut to size, cover it in heatshrink and jobs done. you can also use different colour heat shrink to match your rig.

My card sags down at the far right where its not in the pcie slot. I didnt use metal incase the tube fell over and blew up the pc:eek:
