and they were accelerators, you still needed a GPU and had to connect the Voodoo card to it!

ah right, I forgot when Voodoo cards became fully fledged graphics cards. My old Voodoo1 definitely wasn't.
I have the Gigabyte G1 and it smaller than my old MSI R9 290.
