Graphics card clock speed problem, Different speeds crossfire :S

Ok just finished up doing that, my newer card The XFX brand still locked at 775mhz. My other 6870 sapphire is at 900mhz. I've been reading around and seen that it could be a new model card and could be a bios bug.

It sounds like you may need to flash the BIOS with the one you linked to in post #9.

It's easier to flash the BIOS with just the one card installed so leave the Sapphire card out when you do it.

Have a look at this:

XFX Radeon HD 6870 (HD-687A-ZHFC) stuck clock?

It looks like you need to burn the ISO image to a CD.

Boot from the CD by setting this as the first boot device in the BIOS.

Apparently it should flash the BIOS automatically but from that thread it looks like you may need to run the command "atiflash -p 0 687ZHF14.BIN" without the quotes.

As I said, do this with only the XFX card fitted.

When the flash has finished restart the PC and all should be well.

Don't forget to change the boot priority back in the BIOS.

Good luck!

Just before I do this It won't void the warranty or anything if it messes up will it?

I doubt it but don't quote me on that.

They've provided the new BIOS to fix a flaw so they must expect you to use it.

The only alternatives are to live with a downclocked card or try and return it as "faulty".

Haha! Good news mate, I did the bios flash. Success!!! It's now running at 900mhz full load! :D Thanks for your help buddy I couldn't of done it without you. :P Gonna go ahead and wack in my other card now ^^

:D

You're welcome.

Hopefully everything will work as it should now.

Enjoy the Crossfire goodness and just make sure you have the latest drivers and CAP profiles installed.
