Just to check as I could not find a clear answer pressing search (this is where I get proven wrong)

To install my new x1900xt do I do the following:

1. Add remove programmes to remove ATI programmes
2. Device manager to remove X850XT
3. Shut down PC
4. Remove X850XT and replace with X1900Xt (obviously plug in leads)
5. Restart and use drivers from X1900XT cd?

Should I use driver cleaner to ensure all previous traces are gone or as its ATI replaced with ATI does it not matter?

Thanks

This is the way I do it, might seem OTT but its the most thorough way:

Go to add remove progs, remove CCC or CP, dont reboot.
Remove drivers, dont reboot.
Remove ATi removal tool, reboot into safe mode.

In safe mode remove all ATi entries with drivercleaner then shut down PC.

Remove old graphics card, insert new one, load windows and install drivers as normal.
Reboot when asked.

I did it this way when i received my x1900xt

uninstall ati drivers
reboot
turn off the computer not letting windows attempt to download drivers.
install x1900xt
boot up
install 6.2 driver set
reboot

works flawlessly...

Getting 4.8k default in 3Dmark2006, 10.5k default in 3Dmark2005

All settings default/quality.
