Graphics card making a strange sound during games.

Well I've not had a problem until this week's upgrade.

I want to upgrade the PSU anyway, recommendations? Perhaps a Seasonic 860w platinum, or corsair 860w.

Either will be fine imho, google some reviews and then make a choice.

If it were me i would buy a corsair , their support and rma is superb , i had an old corsair HX620w psu that got noisy after 4 years of use, corsair replaced it foc with a HX650.

The pci-e connectors on my PSU are the 6 + 2 pins. The 6pin locks into place, the 2 pin has no lock.

That shouldnt be an issue as all PSU's are like this , most connector problems i find are from tight plugs that when fitted push the terminal pins on the lead out of place causing all manor of problems.

What's the digital like compared to the normal?

Complicated to explain, but basically it provides a more stable output that has less "noise" , also in some psu's it allows software monitoring of the psu directly.

However , its not a game changer and probably not of much real world concern to the average gamer/overclocker.

it allows you to connect your PSU directly to your motherboard via a spare sata socket and lets you tweak and fine tune your PSU via on screen gui, it also allows you to set profiles and switch between them for different applications and games as needed.... sounds like a pretty good deal but there have been some complaints of a coil whine from these PSU's... the plus side is they do come with a 7 year warranty and the coil whine is covered under the warranty :)+
