Graphics card upgrade

Like I said in post #15, it's just too old for modern games and any upgrades are a waste of money. I also said that the cpu will hold back the gpu and that has proved to be true. The best cpu for your board is only 400mhz faster than what you already have so that will give you next to no boost at all so I wouldn't even bother going down that road. You would have been better off saving the money and replacing the lot. Even if that meant going second hand you could still end up with a pc massively better than what you had to start with.

You can still use the things you just bought, the SSD can move over as can the RAM, GFX and the PSU when you upgrade the Motherboard and chip.

Ideally now just buy yourself a motherboard and chip, something second hand if the budget is tight. You can use your current system until you save up a bit for these parts. 3600 or even 5600 Ryzen are fairly inexpensive to build and still give a good bang per buck as far as I know, I would recommend Intel but I'm a bit out of the loop nowadays.

You will probably also need a cooler, unless the bundle you buy comes with one. What Case do you have?

I am not so sure he can use the RAM. It is quite likely DDR3. Certainly it cannot be used on a more modern system. Basically, OP will either upgrade to a more modern DDR3 system which will be probably 2015 latest (Broadwell 5th gen).

At, that point, you may as well stump up the bit extra and go for something much more modern. I would hazard a Ryzen 3600 complete system would set you back £300-£400 (case, MB, CPU, RAM, GPU, PSU etc).

Then sell your complete system and keep whichever GPU/PSU is better in the new one. Upgrade would probably set you back £200
