Hi guys,

It seems my graphics card (ati radeon x800) has gone belly up today. It is showing me the my desktop but has some strange lines crossing over it. I've done all the usual - reseated, checked cables, monitor, etc - but no joy. So, I'm now looking to replace the card. Having not bought a graphics card in over 2 years I'm a little out of touch with what's good and what's not. Hopefully you guys can help me out here.

I'm looking for an nvidia and spending around £100 to £140.

Thank you all in advance :)
Dave

PS. If it helps, I will be using it for gaming (americas army, cs:s, etc)

4850 mate forget about nvidia in that range as the 4850 is better than any card they have atm. If it has to be an nvidia then you could try a 9800gtx+ but they are more expensive and slower for the most part. The ati also has dx10.1 which is suppost to support dx11 also. Looks like you keep your cards for awhile so this should also benefit you a bit.

I will go a cross between cost and warranty

But really they're all pretty much the same with a name slapped on

Edit: As above, A nice price too

I've had to game at the lower resolutions because of the x800. I certainly won't be playing at the highest resolutions so if the 512 version will run 1280 resolution well - then that will do me, since that's probably as high as I will go.

Hi Daveybhoy (hope that's not a Celtic FC Bhoy :p). What is your PSU model and specs out of curiosity?.

Hi guys,

Got my card, can anyone recommend the best drivers for this card?

And yes, I am a celtic fan :D

My PSU is a Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R ... I'm told it's not very good, but no worries I'll be replacing it soon (need a new one for moving to the states)

I don't think I should help you then :p hehe (RFC). No hard feelings, two of my best friends are die hard celts :). I can see past your downfalls (banter :D).

8.8 Beta below in link. The 8.7 driver if the 8.8 Beta is problematic and if both are giving you problems then I'd try the 8.6 Hotfix drivers.

If your PSU is running the card fine then it'll be cool. I was just wondering as these cards like the juice and it's not great getting new equipment for another part to let you down.

Good luck on the move to the U.S. :)
