Graphics cards **WAS** not working, But OcUK sorted me out a peach!!!

i found in the past powercolor customer support helpfull, i had a problem with 6850 crossfire and they sent me the latest bios for them which sorted the problem, might be worth droping them a email

Just sent this to Powercolor.

Hi there, after 2 months of extensive problems with my 290's and the E-tailor testing them determining them to be okay(Possibly not tested for memory instability?) I still have the same problems.

My cards in single or dual card mode will crash and artefact. The computer will flat out crash when I open certain games, sometimes it will run for an hour then crash. The temps never go above 45/50c as I have a custom build. Before the cards were sent for RMA, I replaced the motherboard/PSU/Ram/HD/Operating system/CPU all to see if it would fix the issue.

I have tried multiple drivers, multiple bios for the motherboard and still the problem persists. I am at my end, as I have spent over 600 pounds on these cards and all I have had is a nightmare. Even over-clockers have not found the issue and I don't think they even tested it in the manner I asked them to.

I don't know what else to do, since removing both the PC 290's and installing a backup card while they were on RMA my problems have completely stopped. I have no problems with this card or any other card just the 290's.

So this obviously indicates the issue being with the 290's however OCUK have rejected this.

I have a video on youtube which can show you the problem.

If you would like to watch this then please do link follows (http://youtu.be/DrBTuOkoW4A)

I really need a reply soon and I really want to resolve this because all I want to do now is finish my build and get on with my life.

Regards,

Craig Thomas

With watercooled cards I prefer to run them on air and give them a good try out before fitting waterblocks.

I had some bad experiences with a couple of watercooled motherboards that had the blocks pre fitted so now if I am going to have anything watercooled I will do it myself once I know the parts work properly.

There ref cards bud, no blocks fitted. I was initially doing exactly what you said but ran into issues.

My first blocked card ordered from OCUK as a prebuilt custom blocked card came DOA lol.

Just watched the video now, couldn't view it in work. Yea man that's nothing like the problem i had. Hopefully someone can sort something out for you.

Shame because your build is looking great :)

Wow so not only have they sent the cards back so fast without me issue being resolved. They've been sent to the wrong address :/ and no one is replying to my Cs thread or mails.

I am sick of this sick to ****ing death.

Hey Huddy emailed him too but only over the weekend.

I don't mean to be rude Huddy I really don't as I love buying from ocuk over all.

Bailey has been amazing in helping me but it seems a complete random has handled the Rma when it arrived and not read anything he's put down regarding the issues I had or the return address.

I'm just upset that this is not resolved after months, I don't want to seem like I'm trying to bite at you guys as a whole.

Thanks for the help.

Have you tried using each card one at a time for any length of time? you might be able to narrow the fault down to a single card or if they both still crash that likely points to something else.

Do you have another monitor you can try? that Youtube video looks like it could be monitor related to me.

Hey,

Yeah I did way back initially the first thing I did was to check the cards individually.

It happened in either dual or single mode.

Since taking the cards out and using my backup card I have no problems at all.

No crashes no artifacts no black screens.

Grr I just wanted to Waterblock these and be done with it.

Looking at that video the problem happens when the cards switch to 3D mode, so my money would be on either a GPU/monitor related conflict or power supply.

Is the rest of your system at not overclocked?

Yes sir, all at stock not had a chance to run any overclockers yet with the issues I've had.
Also adding to that this happens even when I am watching a YouTube video it can be completly random of happen all the time but it does. Essentially the same artifact in the video will happen when I watch a video.

Thanks for your advice mmj :).

My heads going to implode soon lol.

So it does it at low loading too? hmm.

It could be the GPU's but the fact that both of them do it makes that a bit hard to believe, you'd have to pretty unlucky to get two of them with the same fault.

Have you tried running something Prime95 to test if your system memory is stable? faulty memory could be causing the graphics driver to crash.
