Graphics cards **WAS** not working, But OcUK sorted me out a peach!!!

@OCUK

Not entirely sure on your returns polices etc for this particular case. If it is on the forums its not clear to me.
So far i see you have done all you can regarding your polices but one thing you have to remember is that there are a lot of enthusiast's here which basically means if you tell us "we checked your gpu and its fine" to us that means, crap, its my system and me for one will check everything until hopefully its sorted, i don't like to be beat by a PC!!! And this certainly rings true with Allnamestaken. Thing is when do we STOP?? What is the cuttoff point where we can't return something?? It needs to be made very clear, otherwise your gonna end up with a whole heap of rma's

And TBH i would be very upset with this whole situation, maybe he has tinkered and tried to fix longer than he ought to, but at least he's tried.... More than some folk!

Your the #1 e-tailor for a reason, your excellent CS and US

Thank you Nick.

I think im going to quote the second part of your post.

Because even if they declared them not faulty they are not working in a satisfactory manner and we have eliminated any and all faults.

I refuse to wait a month for them to send these to PC.

I HAVE done every thing there is short of making my own graphics card....

Your rights if an item is faulty
In the first six months from when you buy something, the onus is on the seller to prove it was of satisfactory quality when you received it.
If the seller simply says the problem must be due to something you've done, it's for them to prove that.
If something is not of satisfactory quality, you have a statutory right under the Sale of Goods Act, to a refund, have it replaced or repaired for free.
You can ask the retailer to do either, but it can normally choose to do whichever would be cheapest.
If the retailer refuses to repair the faulty goods, you may have the right to arrange for someone else to repair them and claim compensation from the retailer for the cost of doing this.
If the retailer refuses to provide any remedy, such as replacing the item, you can either have your money back minus an amount for the use you've had of it, or keep the item and get a reduction on the price you paid.
If you're having problems and the shop won't repair or replace or replace your goods then it should be reported to your local Trading Standards department as they are breaching your statutory rights.
It's worth telling the shop that you're going to do this as this could mean your complaint is then dealt with.
If the retailer fobs you off, or blames the manufacturer, think about using your guarantee or warranty.

I just want my money back so I can get a 780TI.

I had one before changing to these two cards of absolute fail.

Thanks Krisali and everyone else for there kind thoughts.

This sucks. Even if it aint quite policy, it wouldn't hurt OcUK to take you 290s back, sell them on as 'B' grade even and replace with a 780Ti.

Moral of the story is not to be a cheapskate and buy AMD :p

Back on topic, does what you have posted Nick mean that legally the OP has just got to suck it up? There's nothing OcUK are obliged by law to do so would purely be a gesture of good will if they did resolve this?

Just dont get why I have to suck it up I have 2 obviously faulty cards.

They have not worked this entire time.

So ****ing full of ********.

I spent £3000 nearly on this build and these 2 parts have ruined it all.

I have 2 Useless 290s and no one is willing to help me with it absolutely sick of it.

I posted a one last message on the CS forum in the hope someone will give a flying ****.

Not only that but clearly the warranty means **** all either.

Trouble is craig, although this is an incredibly frustrating situation and you have every right to be angry if ocuk were to help it would be classed as a goodwill gesture or so i believe so ranting although understandable may not be a great way forward.
My advice, keep calm, read your rights and take a diplomatic approach.
Really hope you get it sorted.

You live near me Craig and I could test them for you in my other computer (this is all water cooled, so not stripping this down)?

The cards are all stock with reference coolers on as I was not able to get them stable to bother putting the blocks on.

Gregster I have just tried them today in a new build at my friends house his rig all arrived today and that was all setup its near identical to mine minus the motherboard.

We tested it in a few games and it eventually started doing the same thing.

I really appreciate the offer and really may take you up on it just so we can have another point of view.

Im sorry guys I have posted a couple of ranty messages I know but I have tried to be diplomatic and its got to the point where I want to headbutt a window.

The really odd thing is as I think I have pointed out to everyone is that it may be fine for half hour to an hour then it will do it. Then ill restart and it will constantly do it.

I think after the hassle you have had a few ranty messages are fine and tbh you have been a lot more patient than i would have. I really hope someone sorts this out for you

So fine for upto 30-60mins?? Ummm

Can you get us some temps,
Cpu
Mobo vrm's
Gpu
Gpu vrms

Try just running something light first like the render test on gpuz and use HW monitor to check temps, run for 20 mins and post some screens if poss.

Now do same again with heaven(not extreme) put in windowed mode. Post results

Now we need a combined test, hard to do this unless you have licensed copies of 3dmark etc, so i'd suggest maybe Bf4?? Put settings to full and go on test range and blow everything up(do this in windowed mode, so you can monitor temps and post results!)

If all is well with temps i would be looking towards the PSU

Does windows Event viewer give you any clues??
Any critical power id's
You need to build up load accordingly to give windows chance to report the problem, a rapid increase in temps or a power spike wont display in event viewer.

Edit: you may have posted, but your restarts, are they sudden? Does your screen lock up/freeze first?
